         <description><![CDATA[<div>Goodwin's theory written in 1999 - when Pop music was at it's all time high - relates to the structure of Music Videos. He 'feels' that traditional narrative conventions, forms, etc don't apply to pop videos. He mentions that pop videos try to be 'avant garde' meaning they're trying to be different.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are also various reasons for different narrative structures. They are:<br>- Pop videos are usually built around the song. Often, songs don't have traditional narrative structures.<br>- Pop videos usually use the artist both as a narrator and a character within the narrative.<br>- Lastly, the singer often looks directly at the camera, extending the 'music hall performance' i.e. a live performance; thus trying to involve the viewer.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Furthermore, Goodwin outlines the fact that pop videos 'rely on repetition' and often in videos, images are repeated similarly to the way song repeats choruses or verses. Videos also have a form of closure and ending. Andrew Goodwin mentions this as he says singles that a video is based on 'must end' and this is shown in 'the structure of the music' i.e. the video building towards a climax or continuously repeating before fading off.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Within some music video there's a visualisation in which goes beyond the original meaning of the song. In others; a visual pleasure which then promotes replaying the video is used, thus promoting the music while in different kinds of music videos;&nbsp; they're promoting other things such as films. These are also known as the three relations between songs and videos:<br><br>- Illustration - this is where the music video tells a story from the lyrics. In a way it's like a standard narrative structure. Dance is used in the videos to express the feelings/mood the artist wants the song to generate.<br>- Amplification - used to introduce new meanings that don't exactly contradict <br>- Disjuncture</div>]]></description>
