Universal precautions are safety protocols that assume all bodily fluids are potentially infectious and aim to protect both patients and healthcare workers from bloodborne pathogens. Key practices include wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and gowns, as well as practicing hand hygiene and safely disposing of contaminated materials. When caring for a wound, it is important to wear gloves, clean and dress the wound with sterile materials, and dispose of all contaminated items properly. Afterward, hands should be washed thoroughly to prevent the spread of infection.
