We started a new module called innovation pedagogical methods and assessment tools, Dr. Karwan and M. Miran will be guiding us through this module. First, we talked about what pedagogy meant to us. Personally, I think pedagogy represent the art of teaching and how to use different methods that helps students for better understanding. The first theme of this module was teaching methods. 
In this session I understood that the teacher has a major role in the classroom as students even in the new teachings approach. Students now days to be honest are not like the previous generations they talk and behave differently with teachers. Due to that we should know how talk, guide and teach them without causing any unwanted situation in the class. I learned that different teaching methods or tools were used in different countries that I actually wasn’t aware of. The first one was hologram which according to my knowledge was used for concerts especially for the people who are not alive. In my opinion I don’t think this method will be effective because students cannot connect with hologram figures and most student ill not listen and get distracted easily and beside the high cost of it. I never heard about facial recognition to be used in class. I don’t agree with using such tool in a classroom. Because students won’t feel comfortable, they will think that they are being watched all the time and that may cause sociological issues for them and it may result in disliking school. 

I find virtual reality tool the best among all three tools. Because its easy to use and the beneficial side of it especially for practical lectures. For example, if there was unavailable device or materials to conclude a lab work, we can apply it through VR or we can show different things to students that helps them to understand an experiment better. The first time I heard about Duolingo was from this module which I found out it’s a very interesting program for learning new language and I already start using it.

The skills of how to think critically and finding creative ways to teach. Analyzing data, media literacy, how to be flexible for example using different tools or methods for teaching, leading and motivating our groups to achieve better things, have the power to take charge of things, we should always be productive and always try to communicate with others and create a strong social networking. I always said that we should not depend on one method or approach to teach. 

Using different methods or mixing between them is the best way of learning. The learning environment has a major role in deciding how our teaching methods should be to achieve high quality of learning. I learned that to accomplish a successful learning process a teacher should always find new ways to make classes more effective and interesting. Help students to use their imagination, be creative and speak their minds. Always encourage students to share their thoughts and knowledge and praise them for their contribution. The most interesting thing for me was the six C’s (Choice, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity, caring). But the most important part was the two loves. In my opinion, our love for the subject we teach and our love for our students is the best way for better understanding of the lecture and also motivate students. I learned that workshop in other countries is very different than in our country from choosing who can attend, and group exercise. 

I found that fishbowl learning is very interesting for sharing different ideas and thoughts. The most part that was very interesting to me was the flipped learning. The video showed me how beneficial the flipped learning can be from watching lectures at home and working on class assignments. Because it will help different students who have different levels of understanding. But due to the need of using technology in this method, some students will struggle. Because not all students can afford to have laptops and network devices.

Because creating an appropriate environment for students helps them in many ways, for example, understanding a subject will be more effective, students will be more active and creative who are willing to share their ideas and thoughts with the class.   It is very essential to create a safe learning environment, always let students participate during classes, respect is the most important element in a class and students should respect not only their teacher but their classmates too. 

Knowing students’ needs and interests, always support and encourage them is a great way to connect with students which will help in building trust. Giving positive feedback to students build confidence in them and eventually will help them improve themselves and their performance throughout the course. Designing and decorating the classroom can create a whole new world for the students it helps them to focus and learn some things faster. The classrooms should not be over-decorated because that will make students distracted. Each teacher should learn about their students especially their names. Because that will help students to connect with their teacher easily and feel relaxed around them and students will feel that their teacher cares about them and their needs. A teacher should be the type of person whom students feel safe and comfortable around them, have an easy-going personality, smile and jock with their students now and a while, and help students not only during studying but whenever they need help. Every teacher should set up some rules in their classrooms and discuss them with their students in a positive way.

Students need a suitable location for learning where they feel comfortable and relaxed. Because students cannot focus if there is too much noise in or outside the class and they will be distracted. So, every education facility has to provide an appropriate place for their students. Every teacher should know their students first and their level of knowledge then choose the most suitable methods for teaching them. Diversity is a very important factor during teaching because it will attract student's attention and make them feel excited about each lesson. Because each student is different from the other and every one of them is unique in their way. Therefore, students should always have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas. When a teacher listens to their students without interrupting them or makes fun of them eventually they will feel confident and will have the courage to speak their minds.

 I believe that teachers should always praise their students for answering questions whether they are right or wrong for good behavior and their achievement. Positive feedback has an impeccable effect on students it will help them to build a strong character in the future. Using different strategies for teaching is a way that helps to keep the teaching process interesting by using technology, games, or any suggestion the students may give or think it is a good way that helps them to learn faster.

Assessing is very important in the education process because it helps in evaluating students’ knowledge, their progress through the year, what did they learn during the course, and if they developed new skills. Students’ assessment also helps to differentiate between students who only memories information and apply it directly and students who comprehend things and apply it in their way according to their understanding and sometimes maybe they will add their thoughts. Also, it reveals if the students were paying attention during the lesson.

 Assessment can also be used for evaluating students’ performance on so many levels during a presentation or when writing a report or conducting a project and how much did they use different resources for collecting information. Student assessments in my opinion should be conducted at different stages during the school year. Because that will help in following student performance, for example, some students will show progress day by day while others did not achieve any progress. Another example for why students should be evaluated regularly is that to encourage students to study harder, to achieve bigger things in life, develop and work on themselves, to be an educated people full of knowledge who will have the ability to serve their country on so many levels. 

I strongly believe that each student should be evaluated before entering any field because some students may not have a clear background or any type of information on the field that they are applying to. Another point that I think should be considered in the universities is to follow students’ progress monthly. For example, if the teacher notices that a student’s grade is lowering, they should set a meeting with them and discuss what is the cause of having low marks and offer help to the student. Each university should also set a specific standard for the average monthly grade of each student that they should not go below it in every field. If they go below the determined mark, they should be given a warning and if the grades are not improving the students will be asked to transfer to another college. Because this will help in improving the education level and leering outcome of the university and helps students to give their best.

Another point that was mentioned in this theme was that each teacher has to explain the lecture's main points, what will they learn, what type of assignment they will have, and how they will be assessed in the end. So, the students will have clear information about the course and they won’t be confused in the future. There are many types of assessments but it is very necessary to use different methods at different times and the teacher should not focus on only one method. Because diversity in assessments helps the teacher to know their student's knowledge level and what is their weaknesses and strengths points. Feedback in my opinion can help students and teachers to develop and improve themselves in the future.

Starting with the first poster which was about flashcards which are very helpful in the learning process and can make the learning process easier for students. Class discussion is conducted by the teacher where a teacher shares a subject with their students and asks them to discuss it with each other. This method allows students in sharing different ideas and thought where students can learn from each other. Teaching with models helps students to engage with the lectures more effectively and have an effective role in explaining difficult things that is hard to understand. Debate is a very effective method for learning it helps students to depend on themselves during preparing any type of subject. This learning tool gives students confidence and becomes passionate about their subject. 

Lecture by a teacher is a method that is used since a long time ago and even so it is still very important for students to engage with their teacher directly. Laboratory experiments performed by more than two students this tool is very important especially in my field (food microbiology) because it helps students to learn faster, a better understanding of many things that were explained theoretically, and never forget what they learned. The problem-solving teaching method knowing the problem very well and understanding it is the best way to find a solution to it by starting with the main thing that created the problem. It helps students to develop different skills and be creative in solving different problems. 

In our last assignment where we created a template, sheets, and assessment rubric. I think this tool is very effective and helps students in choosing the right path for example, during conducting a project, giving a presentation, writing a report, and many other things. Each student has the right to have a clear overview of how to apply different assignments and how they will be assessed in the end. So, they can separate what they should do and what they should avoid.

All the assignments were new to me compared to other modules where we only gave presentations which is a tool that we use since we were students in college and we still use it. Diversity as I mentioned before it is very important to attract students’ attention and help them to be creative. This module was diverse on so many levels and the best so far.
