  • I really need EVERYONE to go into WhenToWork to let me know the times you prefer and the times you can sometimes work with enough notice, and the times you absolutely cannot pick up any shifts--a reason must be included for the latter. I'm not going to change schedules. I just need to make sure unassigned shifts get assigned.
  • Please be sure that you check the schedule every Sunday, as I will publish up to two weeks ahead. If anything is off and I accidentally schedule you while you're at school, for example, it's OK to send me a text to point that out. If I scheduled you for a shift you've worked in the past and is during the same hours you work on other days, unless indicated in WhenToWork that you can't do that shift, you're expected to work that shift. If you can't, trade with someone else. I highly discourage anyone to send me a hey-I-can't-work-that-shift- bye kind of text. I would bend over backwards for my staff, and I would hope that we all can provide the same flexibility among ourselves.
  • I will make mistakes. I'm still learning the rhythm and flow of all my staff and our schedules, so I will mess up at times. As I do with you, please do me the courtesy of politely pointing out what I missed. I'll fix it, or, even better, continue to help out as you have in the past. We merits may not say it, but we always remember the times you've gone above and beyond. :) 
  • Please do your best to ask for time off one week in advance. It's more difficult than you realize to cover shifts. I'll happily do it when I'm able, but I'm not always available--that's the key issue.
  • A huge THANK YOU for being pretty solid when our patrons and center have needed you. You're all pretty awesome in my book.
    • The more the weeks go on, the less frequent these pesky messages will become. I'm still figuring things out. Thank you for making me feel welcome. You've all given such a warm reception and it humbles me. EM
