         <description><![CDATA[<div>Flipgrid can be used to facilitate the process of ice-breakers, demonstrations, assignments, feedbacks and reflections.<br><br>Flipgrid can show student's thinking (in a short video), rather than the result (in a written paper)<br><br>It makes inviting outside speakers easier (they can share their knowledge in 3-10 minutes remotely and leave), but I don't know whether CUHK discourages that.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>(As a TA)<br>Blackboard's preview function is awful. With multiple files and text submissions, it is better to download and organise the order of a single submission.<br>Blackboard does not allow teachers to leave comments on a submitted file and resend it to a student directly. Students can only check the overall grade, so they have to ask teachers later to learn or to correct.<br>Leaving comments in each student's assignment is time-consuming, so Floop has a comment bank to save and reuse previous comments.<br>Teachers need to check students' emails regularly to clarify their misunderstandings (before) and answer their questions (after). It makes things easier if teachers can leave comments first and reply to instant messages (via Floop) after the submission (students can ask questions on, like, why you leave a comment here)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In our excel, six software are listed under "Formative assessment tool &amp; quick feedback": Socrative, Formative, Classkick, Floop, Gimkit and Blooket. They have their unique features and therefore not interchangeable.<br><br>Formative has great flexibility. Teachers can add contents like text block, video and docs and ask different types of questions, and students can see their answers (not just a short word / multiple choice answer) in real-time.<br><br>Classkick let students show their work in real-time on the web/pad (drawing on a pad is ok!) and teachers can give instant feedback too.<br><br>Floop allows teachers to give qualified feedbacks (put their feedbacks in the right position) while saving their time with a feedback/answer bank. Besides, it includes an instant messaging service so that students and graders can interact in real-time (and of course, if you finish the grading, you can close Floop 30 minutes later, to conserve your own private time).<br><br>Gimkit introduces a system to earn and spend virtual cash. You can "invest" in "upgrades" and "insurance" to score faster, and to earn points, students have to answer correctly.<br><br>Blooket (it seems to fit language class and maths class more though!) is one of the best gamification examples to make quiz fun.<br><br>Socrative does not offer any unique features, and it is not quite gamified. However, it has all possible features you will expect on a typical formative assessment tool, including quick questions, asking different types of questions, team competition, exit ticket, individual feedback and explanation, as a stand-alone product.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>With Zoom, I feel it is less meaningful to suggest video conferencing apps, like Wonder.me, knowing the high switching cost for both teachers and students.<br><br>Similiarly, with Blackboard I will not suggest classroom management apps, instead I will try apps that can be integrated to Blackboard LMS. With Respondus LockDown Browser I will not suggest software like Examify … They are not perfect but the added value is too small to try new products.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>While I believe Wooclap and Mentimeter are indifferent to most teachers in their premium plan (as the core features - polling and quizzing is enough for teaching), Wooclap offer many question types which other software does not offer, including 'Find on Image', 'Prioritisation', 'Sorting' and 'Brainstorming'.<br><br>In free version, Mentimeter is more preferred for a larger class to capture students' attention, while Wooclap is more preferred for a smaller class&nbsp;to have a deeper discussion.</div>]]></description>

You can use it for collecting thoughts and giving feedback, posting announcement and pre-class discussion questions, or share interesting course-related video with students easily.<br><br>The class can save, revisit, and build on ideas and projects in digital spaces<br><br>A bonus point is, Miro offers free education plan. CUHK teachers can register a educator account for free (which allows board control, attention management, HD resolution export, voting and timer...except video chat features, but we have Zoom already)</div>]]></description>
