QCH addresses the whole child through social-emotional learning and community-based programs.  We're hoping your students would be compelled to support these children and young adults in their journeys by committing to (paid) time in after-school programs.

 

Many of the program participants and their families are Spanish speaking. While some positions require bilingual speakers, in other positions, it is preferred.

 

Queens Community House is looking for part-time help in its after-school programs. Specifically, they hope to recruit students to share their interests and experiences to engage elementary and middle school students.

 

Part-time hours are flexible, and QCH would be happy to have 2 hours or 20 hours with an hourly rate starting at $21/hour.

Responsibilities includes

 

• Substituting teachers in class - as needed

 

• Interact with children and collaborate with co-teacher (circle time, crafting, meal times, etc.)

 

• Communicating with parents - as needed

 

• Restocking of supplies

 

• Prepping meals/snacks for kids

 

• Basic cleaning/taking out garbage

 

Qualifications include:

 

• Must have a Highschool diploma and be 18 years of age

We currently have 7 community running programs located throughout NYC and 1 in Westchester county that serve athletes ages 5 and up for the spring, summer and fall season. These programs operate for 8 weeks where we practice once a week for one hour. During our practices the athletes work on building endurance, improving their running form, developing their speed and agility skills.

 

For our community programs, we are looking for volunteers to support our athletes throughout practices and be a part of our community. We have many volunteers from a variety of colleges and universities in NYC that use this opportunity to work with our athletes in a different setting than the classroom and experience the joy of running with them. This summer we opened up a second location in Queens at Astoria Park Track. Below are more details about this program.
