In the text," how technology is changing the way children think and focus."The mini main idea of paragraph 8 is that, before people would spend time reading and used their imagination and creativity in games. Now all they do is use devices and watch TV which requires nothing leaving your brain unoccupied. A detail to support this is,"In generations of the past for example children directed considerable amounts of their time to reading,an activity that offered a few distractions and requires intense and sustained attention, imagination and memory." another detail to support how they use devices now is,"The advent of television altered altered that attention by offering children visual stimuli, fragmented attention and little need of imagination." this tells me that your surroundings are essential to what you do and think.

The main idea of paragraph 9 is that it is comparing reading and reading online with similes. reading is like scuba diving digging deep in the text to find the gist using your brain wisely. technology on the other hand is like a jet ski on the surface non deep and legit which requires no thinking ability. a detail to support this is,"Book reading is like scuba diving in which the diver is submerged in a quiet visually restricted slow paced setting with few distractions" and '' the internet is like jet skiing in which the jet skier is skimming along the surface" this tells me that they are comparing reading and going deeply into the text to briefly using the internet not using our brains

In the text "How Technology is Changing the Way Children Think and Focus"
What I think the mini main idea is about paragraph 8 is that it's about how the children's immediate environment. it's also about how they did a study on the kids. In the article they did a study on the kids with attention and TV things so it shows that the kids get distracted by the technology.

The mini main idea of paragraph 9 is about how their brains pay attention to technology better then reading . They also give an example about. In the text it compares Book reading to scuba diving and Jet skiing to the Internet. When the author was comparing scuba diving to Book reading he said that book reading is like scuba diving but with few distractions. Also when he comparing jet skiing to the internet he said jet skiing is like the internet surrounded with many distractions.
