GAN TONG SHENG
A174531, 31/7/2022

2. How is your progress?
I completed the learning modules of Week 2 earlier than I expected. The title for this week is Greetings and Introducing which is very useful in real life. I have learned how to greet, ask about someone's nationalities or jobs, and answer those questions in Hanguel. I was able to master all of the learning objectives efficiently.
<sub>
</sub>
3. Points to remember from week 2!

Wide range of vocabularies such as occupation, country, and different ways of greetings. However, it's not hard for me because most words have similar pronunciations as in Mandarin.

4. Your feelings & thoughts

I started to get more interested in learning Hanguel as I am able to generate simple conversations and greet people in Hanguel. After I recognize all the vowels and consonants, I realized that Hanguel is not as hard as I thought. I am much anticipating the upcoming lessons!

5. ONE good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

I have always practiced speaking in Hanguel with my family members. Therefore, not only me started to learn Hanguel, but so as my family members.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

As far as Week 2, I don't think there is much of a challenge. I just need to familiarise myself with all the vocabulary and greetings so that it comes as a second nature whenever I want to speak in Hanguel.

7. Your plan for next week (Week 3)

I plan to follow the learning courses of Week 3 as scheduled. The topic of Week 3 is Family, I can't wait to learn them so that I can show off my ability to speak Hanguel with my family members. Meanwhile, I also plan to revise back what has been learned in Week 2.

How is your progress?

So far, the progress is good. I have been coping well with the jeans and code name. It was hard at first, but now I remember it well. This week the new stock arrived. The staff there asked me to handle the new shirts and jeans. So I learned how to put the price tag and magnetic tag on the clothes. The next day, we had a new promo which was 20%RM469 and 25%RM539. I needed to remember it well because in the past few days I had to serve a few customers. Then I learned how to use a cashier machine to check the price of the item so it matched with the pricetag. It was a good experience. If there was nothing much to do, I continued perfecting my folding technique.

3. Points to remember from week 2!

Points to remember are to always pick out magnetic tags from clothes after the customer is done with the payment. Remember and learn about the new stuff in the store to promote it to the customers. Remember the promotion offer of the month to reach the sales target.

4. Your feelings & thoughts

Now I feel great and am excited to meet new customers every day. It can improve my social skills, but I feel tired due to too many morning shifts in a week, but I'm coping well with the schedule now. One thing that I am happy about is that I managed to encourage the customer to get one shirt to reach a minimum purchase offer of RM469(currently RM399 ) for a 20% discount. Hence, reaching the sales target of the day

5. ONE good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

I know how to fold different types of clothes at home neatly and differently.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

Every day, I had to drive through traffic to get to work at 9: 30 a.m. As a result, sometimes I got late. I'm concerned with my work performance, but I'm trying my best to be better every day. I also had to stand for many hours, which made me tired throughout the day. So I coped by moving around the store and doing stuff.

7. Your plan for next week (Week 3)

My plan for next week is to clean the storage room according to type, size, and colour, so it will be easier to look out for clothes that are not displayed at the store.

Week 2 Learning Intermediate Korean

Nur Farahin Binti Abu Bakar, A173924, 31st July 2022

2. How is your progress?

I am doing well and getting better at understanding the Korean nouns, verbs and adjectives. I managed to cover all topics up until week 3 as my course is 6 weeks duration and I successfully answered all the quizzes in week 1 till week 3 with 100% points without any problem.

3. Points to remember from week 2!

There is a definite line on how Korean literature and how Korean people speak works. In term of speaking/singing, the vocabularies are much more easier to learn, pronounce and practice. However, in terms of Korean literature (as I am focusing more on understanding paragraphs, books and comic manhwas, it is very important to highlight how the words are constructed, why some authors used different kind of expressions to express something simple. I believe it is very important for me as a reader to definitely understand what are the authors/illustrators try to deliver). In terms of conversing in Korean, honorifics are very important to show courtesy and respect to others.

4. Your feelings & thoughts

I managed to combine three weeks of lessons in 2 weeks of elective posting without any problem. It is surely getting more challenging as the lessons become more difficult to complete but I am so happy that I learnt so many things accurately and managed to read and understand the paragraphs without the much help from google translate/papago apps. However, I faced a minor problem as I supposedly submit my 50% assessment at 11.59, 31st July 2022. However, there is a sudden change for this course in coursera in which I need to upgrade my account and pay $49 for the certificate. As I already spent times and answered all the quizzes but having this sudden changes is quite troublesome and dispirited but I managed to discuss with Dr Syamsa regarding this issue and I am glad there are some other alternatives instead of certificate. I am looking forward to finish the course, revise and make preparations for the video as the final project of elective posting.

5. ONE good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

My Korean vocabularies are getting wider and I can speak or write better compared than before.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

Apart from the certificate issue, I don’t have any other major problem. The course is very exciting, the lessons are comprehensive and the lecturers are very admirable. But, I cannot denied that I am still having some problems understanding the whole 6 paragraphs of essay when doing exercises as my Korean vocabulary is still quite limited compared to the native speakers. However, I believe practice makes perfect! I am going to learn more and widen my vocabularies.

7. Your plan for next week (Week 3)

I will try my best to finish 2 lessons in Week 3 and prepare the script for my video final project. I am also planning to revise my notes and try to Korean words accurately with my friends.

1. Kherishhma a/p Thiagarajan, A174929, 30 July 2022

2. For this week, I learned makeup in a more advanced level compared to the previous week in which I was taught more difficult techniques using makeup products to define one's features. For an example, I am terrible at applying eyeliner so this week taught me a lot in terms of the method of applying as well as perfecting the technique of a wing liner. Furthermore, I learned that different type of skin react differently to various makeup products hence it is essential to know one's skin type to optimize a makeup look.

3. My two weeks course regarding bridal makeup is over and I can proudly say I've acquired the knowledge I needed regarding makeup. However, I need to keep practicing to perfect this skill. I think one important lesson that I've learn is trust the process because in the beginning it was clumsy and not appealing however when I keep working towards the makeup look I was going for, I was surprised on how the end results was. So, I guess I'll just trust the process when I do my makeup or even when I'm applying for someone else.

4. Overall, I'm glad I joined this class because I am learning a lifelong skill and I believe it will be beneficial to me if I keep working towards it and maybe someday I can even turn it into a profitable business. Furthermore, I am blessed to have a supportive teacher who is willing to go beyond just so I get to learn something. I am also super excited to go for next week's class as I will be starting to learn saree draping.

5. Like I mentioned earlier, I am learning a lifelong useful skill. Hence, once I perfect this skill, I am able to do my makeup without relying on anyone to do for me. This way, it saves me both my time and money which is why I am glad to have learn this skill.

6. This week was less challenging compared to last week as I have a little knowledge compare to when I was clueless last week. However perfecting certain techniques was rather difficult and I am pretty sure I am about only 20 percent in perfecting the technique. Yet again, my teacher comes to the rescue and patiently teaches me on what I should know. Therefore, this week was definitely better.

7. Next week, we will start learning about saree draping which is my field of interest. I love sarees and I love wearing them. I have been teaching myself how to drape a saree since I was 14 but this is the first time I am going to professionally learn it. Hence, I'm very much looking forward to it. I was told to bring few sarees to drape on and I will be taught on different way to drape a saree. Hopefully, I am able to drape a saree beautifully and elegantly by the end of this course.
