I believe the most valuable tenets of the American Dream is success through happiness. Everyone has potential in life. Woman's rolls have changed and so have men rolls. Men want to be more involved with family and staying at home. Woman want to work and be more involved with working outside of the home. People today are happier about their jobs because it is more important to do what you love and not do what you are forced to do. And that is the American dream.

Differences
1. Stay at home moms then and now moms want to go work.
2. White fences (means success)
3. Gender rolls are changing.
4. Portable health methods.
5. intergenerational homes are valued.
6. you can choose your job and work doing what you love.
7. People use to go to only their parents when in trouble, now students go to many adults and not only their parents.
8. Wealth is valued in relationships and not only money.

Differences:
1. Everyone wanted to own land but it led to an economic recession
2. Parents now want to be both the breadwinner and stay at home parent
3. 9-5 jobs are changed b/c people can work at home now due to technology
4. Portable health so that everyone is taken care of not just b/c of their jobs
5. Happiness isn't the person that has everything, but the person that is involved with their community
6. Everyone is worthy of kindness= Radical Kindness
7. More emotional help, kids can talk to other adults rather than their parents
8. Money has made us dumb to reaching out

Paragraph:
I believe that the most valuable tenet of the American Dream is that everyone is different and that everyone can succeed in their own way. The American Dream is also changing as time goes on, especially with technology. Everyone has there own american dream and it isn't just about making money to show your ancestors that you have done well. People have their own dreams to follow and not the standard, people need to be independent in their careers but it is also better for people to be involved in their community because that is the key to happiness not money.

Based on trust and relationships.

The most important part of the American dream is land ownership and wealth. Though a new concept of this "dream" has some decent points, in the end its all about property and wealth. nothing has changed in this sense and saying otherwise is sugar-coating the truth. Ways we can achieve this is working hard and taking no shortcuts. The harder one works the better their "dream" can be.

Today
-Stable jobs are depleting
-more people are losing homes
-income is lower
-American dream has less to do with money
Before
-Men got stable jobs while women worked at home
-The home showed success
-The American Dream was based on success and wealth

My Most Important Opinion
-I disagree with her because moving in with different families seems like a nightmare to me. Not everybody would benefit from living in a tight community. Not everybody is as respectful as she makes these communities seem. To me, this seems more dangerous but my point of view is very based on personal experiences. When people live in communities like this it is too easy for them to trust one another. People aren't good nor are we born to have perfect communities like this. The possibility of a utopian place like this surviving and being successful is low. (I'm gunna stop here before i get to into this)

Also the American dream still revolves around wealth and success. Its still what people look forward to and strive for. Nobody would be excited about being poor but still being happy. Money doesn't buy happiness but it sure does help.

There's also a lower income compared to the past, as well as not buying houses with white picket fences.

I think that the most valuable tenets of the American dream is how versatile life has become. There isn't one goal that everyone strives for, there's goals everyone can have for without facing judgement. People have so many more opportunities nowadays, and so many different stories. You don't need to have a huge house, or make six figures, or have a job that's deemed "more important" like being a doctor or a lawyer.

Both parents support the family at home and away from it.
3) Jobs are more about doing what you love and not making the maximum amount of money.
4) Jobs have portable health benefits.
5) Kids and adults re healthier now because they have more people in their life that care for them.
6) There are other ways to gain success other than money.
7) The times of work have changed. The old 9-5 shift has changed due to technological advancement.

I believe the most important aspects of the new american dream are being successful in your own way, being happy, and having different pathways to follow in your life. Everyone strives to be successful in today's american dream and that success can be achieved in other ways other than money. People today are also generally happier about their jobs. They like doing what they do and the new benefits they can receive. Also, life in today's american dream is versatile and people can go their own way to succeed.

One being the group that let the facade of the superficial life to takeover their idea of the American Dream. The other side of it is the group that has evolved past the solitary like American Dream that emphasized perfection. The so called perfection allowed for a superficial explosion to take precedence over what mattered, that being family and living well. As the speaker told us of her experience in the tight little neighborhood they had in which their small community shared vital responsibilities involving the influence they have on those around them, as well as valuing the privacy and independence sought out by the original American Dream. I hope to one day find an ideal living space such as this in which I can find a stable happiness along with those around me. To work towards being a better influence to those I meet and those I might meet in the future. But the battle needs to begin soon, the battle against social media and their large influence on maintaining and feeding off of a superficial America.

The American Dream in the 1920's is not even close to what the American Dream is now, the 1920's American Dream is outdated, everyone nowadays has reformed their wants and "needs" to things that seem necessary in everyday life, (iPhones, laptops, wifi, etc.) but I think that was the speaker was trying to explain that the modern American Dream was, is the value of being able to coincide with others and respectively live among others while of course appreciating a sense of privacy and personal space, but still keeping the strong aspects of a community.

The american dream has changed since the past, it used to be about graduating high school, and getting any job u can to get a roof over your head. Now its more of going to college, then getting a job u actually enjoy, having a life u enjoy instead of one that is just striving for the basic necessities of life. Everyone has their own view on the American Dream
some people's are to just do whatever they can to get money, even though money does not bring happiness. While others are just as simple as getting a roof over your head, and supplies to feed and cleanse your family.
