It stretches for over 2,300 kilometers and covers an area of about 344,400 square kilometers.

Biodiversity: The reef is home to an incredible variety of marine life, including more than 1,500 species of fish, 400 types of coral, and several species of sea turtles, sharks, and rays. It is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world.

UNESCO World Heritage Site: The Great Barrier Reef was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981 due to its outstanding natural beauty and importance as a marine ecosystem. It attracts millions of tourists every year, particularly for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Environmental Threats: The reef is facing major environmental challenges, including coral bleaching caused by rising ocean temperatures due to climate change. Efforts to protect the reef include conservation programs, sustainable tourism practices, and international cooperation to address global environmental issues.

Kakadu National Park:

Location and Size: Kakadu National Park is located in the Northern Territory of Australia, about 171 kilometers east of Darwin. It covers over 19,000 square kilometers, making it one of the largest national parks in Australia.

Cultural Significance: Kakadu is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for both its natural beauty and cultural heritage. It is home to the Bininj/Mungguy people, who have lived in the area for tens of thousands of years. The park contains many ancient rock art sites that offer a glimpse into the history and traditions of the indigenous peoples.

Diverse Ecosystems: Kakadu is famous for its diverse landscapes, including wetlands, rivers, forests, and sandstone plateaus. It hosts a wide range of wildlife, including crocodiles, kangaroos, wallabies, and over 280 species of birds.

Wet and Dry Seasons: The park experiences two main seasons – the wet season (November to April) and the dry season (May to October).
