This source explains the reasons as to why South Carolina wanted to nullify the tariffs because they found it unnecessary. It made them lose a lot of money which in the end, would hurt the state's economy. Also it describes how the nullification acts came into play by Vice President Calhoun who believed that the government only existed at the will of the states, bringing up a very good argument. When Andrew Jackson put in act the force bill, it violated the states rights by allowing President Jackson to use the military to "enforce acts of Congress" but reality it was used to enforce the tariffs and stop South Carolina from using their right to nullify them. Also the force bill was in violation of the Constitution.

"The South Carolina Nullification Controversy." Ushistory.org.

The nullification crisis happened in South Carolina due to very high increase on tariffs rate that were imposed upon them by the federal government and it was Jackson's idea. This was the second time he rose the tariff rate and it was affecting South Carolina the most that it threatened to secede from the government as a last option because they tried to win Jackson to their side and convince him to decrease the tariffs' rate but that did not work. Andrew Jackson did not like that threat and he ordered troops to go and crush that threat. Jackson said "The laws of the United States must be executed," and then he stated: "I have no discretionary power on the subject. ... Disunion by armed force is treason." Jackson convinced the Congress to pass a Force bill that explained that he is allowed to use force to collect the tariffs but that did not stop South Carolina from its threat. Furthermore, he threatened to hang every leader in South Carolina that was empowering the nullification. Finally, senator Henry Clay pushed for a compromise tariff bill that reduced all the tariffs imposed for 10 years and that convinced South Carolina from withdrawing their secession.

Jackson in this crisis violated amendments in the constitution that showed, he was not fit to be president. He violated the 10th amendment in which the state of South Carolina declared and act null and refused to do it and that was their right because it was granted to them by the 10th amendment but Jackson did not like that and he was willing to use force in order to get that tariffs. He ordered troops to surround Charleston and warships to go around the ocean border of South Carolina and made them get ready for a civil war. This act of cruelty was definitely unconstitutional because he did not respect an amendment and was ready to go to war for it and called the union "indissoluble" even if the 10th amendment states that a state can declare an act null and void it and even when South Carolina threatened to secede, Jackson did not care and still was willing to use force to get what he wants which proves his cruelty and bad presidency and ruling.

This Source explains all of Jackson's life from his past to his presidency to his death. Jackson studied law and was in the military. He led forces into Spanish Florida and won the battle of New Orleans over the British. When he became president in the 1824 election , he became involved in a battle with the second bank of the united states. Jackson also believed that the federal tariff (favored northern manufacturer) was too high. After this, it turned into the Nullification crisis because this was his second time raising tariff. When people refused he forced congress to pass a force bill that just forces the people to collect the tariffs. He also said that he would hang (murder) any South Carolinian leader that refused to pay the tariff.

In the Nullification Crisis, Jackson made so many mistakes. He not only broke amendments he did not follow any of the traits of being a good character. He had no care for other people, for example, you do not threaten the people when they do not agree with you. As a president, its your job to listen to the ideas of others and to come to a decision based on what you think is best for society. Jackson did not do that, he caused the nullification crisis because he kept raising the the tariff instead of lowering it. Also, instead of using compromise, he used force, and this was probably his biggest mistake because this act was unconstitutional. He used cruelty (such as being hanged) to get his way. This behavior shown by Jackson was his downfall in his presidency because it showed how bad of a president he was.
