A way to remember this is: Tinea=tiny, as in a worm is tiny, and pedis=ped or pedicure, which is done on feet

Bacteria enters the skin around the nail that has been damaged often by trauma. So, I would say "I cut myself with my 'pairing' knife and now I have Paronychia."
