Find a Canadian hotel and share a picture of a design element that you like and (2) share your thoughts on how this design element connects to the brand / vision / rating or type of hotel. You cannot use any of the ones we discussed in class ;-) ......Don't forget to include your name.

My Thoughts on the Design Element

Connection to Brand & Vision:
The Fairmont Banff Springs is often called “Canada’s Castle in the Rockies,” and its interior design reinforces that identity. The stone and architectural gestures such as the vaulted ceilings echo traditional château and castle architecture, which embodies the idea of luxury and timelessness. This choice gives guests a sense of entering something more than a hotel — it feels like stepping into a historic grand estate that matches its dramatic mountain setting.

Alignment with Hotel Type & Rating:
As a high-end luxury resort in a UNESCO World Heritage setting, the lobby’s design is aspirational and memorable. The high ceilings, rich materials, and monumental scale communicate premium quality and spectacular experience right from arrival — something expected at a 5-star destination resort. The craftsmanship and historic architectural language contribute to the overall grand yet warm luxury that guests expect — blending comfort with iconic beauty.

Why It Works Emotionally:
Walking into this lobby likely gives guests a feeling of awe and escape — the kind of emotional impact that luxury hospitality designs aim for. It sets the tone for the rest of the stay: an elevated experience that ties to nature, history, and prestige.

 Kiranjot kaur (100999333)

This room concept gives a very elevated feel mainly because the size of the room itself. And the windows. You can close the windows and open them by the hatches. So give you the ability to have your view when you want therefore making privacy personalized. There are also 2 chairs provided for lounging to specifically look out and enjoy the view itself when one wants to.

This is an aspect that 4-star hotels can embody to give their guest a luxury feel.

With the hotel being in the mountains it has a very calming feeling to it and i believe this indoor pool they have aligned with that well.

I like that the Bisha Hotels designs are very chic and artistic. With all the different patterns used it makes the place look expensive and high class which is exactly what they are trying to come across as. With the Bisha Hotel being a 5 start luxury hotel they take their designs not only in there lobby but also in the rooms very seriously I feel like they would attract high end and fashion forward customers.

Alysia Hamilton

The way the top of the building has the peak to give it a castle feel. Especially surrounded by snow, it adds all the effect.

When one thinks of BC they think of lots of forest, waterways and stunning views. The Moonwater lodge along the Malahat highway delivers this and more. This is their Luxury Queen suite, with a main area soaker tub overlooking the Saanich Inlet. You can also view the inlet and surrounding nature from The balcony area just off the main room. The main sleeping area is located above the main area in a loft so the above window is the view from your bed. The lodge is rated as a 5 star and the view is enough to warrant that rating. There is a huge amount of natural light in the room as this suite faces to the North East so the morning and mid day sun are present in the room. At night, the light pollution from the adjacent village of Brentwood bay across the inlet is very low so the stars are very visible- again pulling into the room the outdoors/nature vibe that defines BC.

The Ritz- Carlton tries to connect the luxury of their place with their design. Their design gives warm, elegant, rich and bold. A design i really like that i feel speaks out for the rating of the hotel is the cloud chandeliers. It makes the place look fancy and high end. They incorporate wood and marble and make them bring out each other so well. Using Blue, Brown and White really helped bring out the lighting and the glass features.

So here they are located in main town of Stratford, this area is more connected to the history of the land and 'name' and how it connects to the English society, art and innovation. On the side of the building (due to the name and being 15 mins from London) they encourage guests who like history to stay here as it is in the heart of the town and they do a lot of promoting of local events (once you enter into the lobby they have a bristle board where signs for events are hung for tourists to see). Right on the front as you pull into the parking lot there is a wallpaper/design of William Shakespeare. Their rooms and design of the lobby are minimal in colour (features, beige, brown, gold, etc.) to tie into the old english look and theme while still trying to be modern. Very simplistic design just for travellers to more so sleep and have the ability to easily move around in the town

I really like this style of hotel because I love being outdoors and surrounded by nature. I think the design elements suit this mission statement because of the rustic design choices, but are still fully furnished to maintain a comfortable and luxurious experience. I also think spacing out the accommodations the way they did in the middle of the woods, suits the private, yet cozy atmosphere they're going for.
