When I think of postcolonialism, I consider the lasting impact of colonization and how it constructs current cultural conditions. It maintains a focus on nonwhite indigenous peoples but could also include, at times, the voices of white settler cultures. Postcolonialism explores anticolonial resistance as well as simply life after colonization, including experiences with double consciousness, mimicry, and other facets of one's cultural identity.
