Summary of Innovation

Hospitals have long struggled with “alarm fatigue,” when busy caregivers become desensitized to the constant noise of cardiac telemetry monitoring systems. Important warning signs can be missed in the din of nuisance pings. Reports indicate that up to 44 percent of inpatient cardiac arrests are not detected appropriately. Consequently, fewer than one in four patients survive an in-hospital cardiac arrest according to the American Heart Association.

Centralized monitoring has emerged as the answer. Off-site personnel use advanced equipment, including sensors and high-definition cameras, to monitor blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, pulse oximetry and more. Complex data are assimilated to trigger on-site intervention when appropriate while filtering out many unimportant alarms.

In 2016, one study reported a 93 percent survival rate of cardiopulmonary arrests among patients for whom a centralized monitoring unit gave advance warnings.

Since then, further innovation has yielded a system that can double the number of monitored patients per technician, improve clinical outcomes, and decrease communication transit times. The results of the “eye in the sky” approach are capturing the attention and imaginations of hospitals around the world. (Medical Innovations, 2018)

She is able to assess any at situation from every angle, think through what obstacles may lie ahead .

Cindy (Connectedness): Cindy will bring a calmness to the team with strong faith and "don't sweat the small stuff" mentality, she will be able to stay focused on the end result and keep the team centered on a common goal.

Faith (Futuristic): Faith is motivated by the "what ifs" and "what cans." A free thinker coming from out of left field...there is no limit to that imagination and creativity. This would be right in her wheel-house and when people are doing what they love, like Faith, top quality effort ensues.

Carols (Context): Carol knows that history has a way of repeating itself in some form or fashion. The lessons learned from the past can help make sure they are not made in the future. Knowing how things came to be can be a solid foundation for innovative technology.

Pablo (Positivity): Pablo's energy, optimism and enthusiasm will be detrimental to the team when we no doubtably waver in our hard, indecisive, times. Every one will not always be on the same page, Pablo's positivity will be infectious and keep the group together
