Aggie Access

Aggie Access provides students taking undergraduate courses (level 0000-5999) with all required textbooks each semester for a flat rate of $250 for Fall, $250 for Spring, and $150 for Summer. The flat rate will be posted to student tuition and fee accounts each semester.
Eligible students begin each semester with complete access to required textbooks no later than the first day of class. Digital books are delivered within Canvas, while all print books will be distributed by the Campus Store.
Students can log in to Canvas to view program options, including how to opt out.

Many college students are in a hurry and often forget their textbooks at home. They do not want to drive 30 mins-1 hr to retreive their books and this is why e-books come in handy! They can be accessed with any device and at any time. Backbacks can feel heavy and hurt your shoulders if you carry it around all day.

Despite how convenient e-books can be, students need to learn how to navigate their canvas and access their course bookshelf. In distance education, many of the students that I come across need help finding their e-books and course materials. Most of them do not access their e-books until the middle of the semester since they are fully online and do most of their work at home.

Most importantly, electronic books cost less and can save students more money! =) It cuts out the cost of physically producing and shipping textbooks.

E-BOOK TIP #1:

To be as comfortable as possible, using a device with a bigger screen to read can be helpful! A desktop or laptop computer can allow you to read more comfortably, and you can choose how large the text appears. You can even change the font style according to your taste. You can adjust the brightness of the screen according to your needs.

Blind or visually impaired individuals can also access eBooks with the screen reader option. Screen readers are software applications that read the contents of a computer screen aloud.

E-BOOK TIP #2

Read a few pages every day and increase the number of pages you read as days pass. Start with reading 4 pages first if you are a total beginner and increase 2 pages every day.

Explore and learn how to create notes, use the highlighter, use the bookmarking features, and the search tool (my favorite feature!).

When instructors use eBooks in classrooms, students tend to pay more attention. Because they've got additional content other than just text material, such as videos, audio files, and animations. These interactive additions to their course books help them learn faster.

You can’t lend or resell most e-textbooks. Students who might share a book with their roommate run into difficulty and those who are accustomed to reselling books at the end of the semester hit a brick wall as well. Students find it hard to deal with these restrictions when they are used to the ease of sharing paper books. However, most courses require newer editions as each semester goes by. Even before eBooks, students brought in their hardcover textbooks to the bookstore for a return or buyback & they left disappointed because the bookstore did not accept or paid the students less money. Simply because the courses turn to newer editions almost every semester. Or if the students tried to sell their books on social media yard sale pages, hardly anyone came forward to buy the book(s). Better social tools could help meet their needs for social reading and learning. Such as creating a reading group or book club for each course.

eTextbooks were supposed to replace the pounds upon pounds of paper books that college students stuff their backpacks with. But digital books are heavy in a different way: their storage size. Even on a 64GB iPad, there’s simply not enough room to store every single book a student might need. Assuming students are using their iPads solely for books (they aren’t), books that can be up to 10GB each leaves room for just about eight books on one device.
