Why are photographs important?

AB- they help you remember memories.

JB- To remember people who might have passed away.

JUB- To share on social media

DLB- To make you laugh

MYG- To help us remember things in history that we wasn't around to see.

Do we have any special photos?

LMN- When I signed up with man United I had a picture in the dressing room.

RJ- I have a picture of my cousin who moved away.

SS - I have a picture of when I was a baby.

Are photos always a true reflection?

EW- No because people can edit them.

AB- It just a snapshot you don't know what's gong on behind the scene.

MYG- People get paid to edit pictures.

This worship links to the British value of Mutual respect, we all have different opinions and views but we respect each other. Photographs can provide a unique view into the wider world. they can help us to learn about and care for animals and environments.

What will classrooms look like in the future?

DD- It would give teachers a break

LMN- It might be hard for teachers to find another job

EW- It is bad for our mental health to be sat looking at screens all day.

What do we think classrooms will look like in thirty years?

DLB- Computers teaching you but alongside computers, because computers can fail.

MYG- I think it will be good and pupils will be cleverer.

School have changed since our grandparents went to school so they will keep on changing. However Jesus teachings haven't changed in all the years.

Falling out with siblings

Non - Fiction books we like:

RJ- a book about Loch Ness Monster

MYG- I don't feel it is important to know a bit about the author, unless its a autobiography.

JBr- It is not important t know about the author because it does not effect the story.

AC- It is nice to know bits about the author and why the wrote the book.

The most important book is the Bible we can read, it should be more readily available to buy.

Class were asked to make a harvest greeting to be included in the food parcels given out.

Ruby - we bring food into school for the parcels

Who are the parcels given to and why?

Mohammed - the elderly, because they might not have a lot of money or be able to get to the shops

Children were then guided to an activity to include a scripture, they could design their own, working in pairs or individually.

What kind of interactions do we have during the day?

Do we think these interactions are important and why?

AC- its just better to talk to somebody in person.

DD- its is sometimes difficult because of distance.

JB- Maybe if you are working from home you don't work as hard as you should.

LMN- You cant give people compliments if you cannot see them.

EW-Its good for your mental health to see people.

EW- Mum spoke to me as soon as I woke up. I had a conversation in choir.

JB- I had a chat with my dad on the way to school.

AA- I had a conversation with my dad when he woke me up.

AB- I said good morning to Mr Hudson on the gate.

LMN- With the phones not working it has been nice to see people from the office coming into the classroom.

What is harvest?

Giving to the people who need it.

Waiting for good things to grow.

How do others Celebrate Harvest?

They happen at different types of the year depending on weather.

In Thailand the Harvest is is about fruit.

In Korea Harvest is about visiting the graves of relatives and have feasts, the males wrestle and the ladies sing.

In Barbados Harvest is the biggest festival of the year and lots of celebrities attend.

In Incwala Harvest is in late December or early January.

UK is about being grateful for non perishables and giving food to those less fortunate.

In India it is celebrated in mid January and marks the end of winter.

Adwitha shared with us some things about how she celebrates the Hindu Harvest festival of Onam, they eat traditional food and get together as a community at the temple. She dresses up in nice clothes. All the food is home cooked by members of the community.

We discussed Kier Starmer the Prime Minister and why he should or shouldn't be accepting gifts.

Firstly we talked about how dangerous these gifts could be.

Then we discussed how these gifts could influence the decisions made by the government.

AB- It is not fair because he can already afford to buy things so why should he get them free.

Gratitude means - showing love, respect and being thankful. Is he just showing gratitude?

What gifts mean the most to us?

LMN- Gifts that have been handmade

JB- Any gift that is given from my family

AB- Handmade or personalised gift

RWB- My family is my gift

MYG- Video games because i enjoy playing them

JB- Anything that can make you money

BW- Colouring books because I like to colour

RJ- Sometimes even rubbish gifts can have sentiment and a lot of though has gone into them.

Our most precious gift as Christians is Jesus. We could all take a moment to think about special gifts

CB- Success means never stopping making homes and dreams. I want to fly a plane.

LMN- I want to be a professional football player.

EW- I want to be a fashion designer.

How do we know we have achieved our goals?

AB- receiving something in reward.

We watched a video by CAFOD called a children's poem for peace.

ADI- We should pray for people in the war

JB- Our worries we have are nothing towards the worries some children have.

We prayer for all people all over the world who experience war or riots in our world.

We all wrote our own individual prayers to add to the class prayer tree.

How might discoveries like this help us to understand different cultures?

EW- We can think about how they used to live and learn more about them.

DD- It could show us how they lived and where they worshipped.

AC- How they lived the lives on a daily basis.

We then all thought about a time when we have not felt included, we did not share these private thoughts but took some time to reflect on our feelings and how others would feel if they felt excluded.

How can school be inclusive?

AB- Have more sports on the yard so everybody can have opportunities.

DLB- Pupil voice gives people an opportunity to get together and talk.

EW- Use the buddy bench more often.

MYG- Invite more children to participate in sports stuff outside school, not just the same people.

CB- Provide different clubs for different peoples interests at lunchtimes.

Everyone should have access to the same opportunities and should be treated with dignity.

Nativity Hero - The Angel Gabriel

Why is the Angel Gabriel an Important part of the Christmas Story?

SS- If Mary didn't get the news from Gabriel nobody would know Jesus was a special child.

MYG- Mary might have panicked and been shocked if Angel Gabriel did not visit her.

JB- because the Angel Gabriel came to Mary she could prepare

RJ- If the Angel Gabriel didn't visit Mary he would not have known why he could perform miracles as he grew up.

We then had a debate about this.

Willow M - they all are of equal importance.

Alfie- Jesus was the most important because he sacrificed himself.

Debbie- I agree with Alfie but i think the Donkey is the most important because without the Donkey Mary wouldn't have got to Bethlehem.

James- I agree with Debbie but I also think the Angel Gabriel was important because he spread the word that Jesus was going to be born.

Coby- I agree with Debbie because the Donkeys looked after Mary when she was carrying Mary.

Amaan - I disagree that the animals are an important part of the story because the Donkey did not choose to help and I'm not sure the Donkey was real.

Riley- I agree with Amaan I think they would have been more likely to ride a camel like the three Kings.

What's happening in this picture?

Should you be allowed to build homes anywhere?

Keir Starmer, has given the go ahead for building homes in the countryside, that building homes is going to be allowed anywhere. He states that there will be 370,000 homes being built a year.

Travis - I don't think it's a good idea, you could use the space for shops, or homeless shelters. Or any other purpose

Justin - I disagree with Travis, they are building the houses, to help people from other countries to come over and live in safety.

Debbie - Leigh - Knocking down houses to build new houses. They are replacing good houses

Lily-Mae - Good that they are building houses, but not so good to build in the countryside will damage the animals welfare.

M-Y - disagree with others. Build 25 houses for 4 people per house. What type of houses will be built there. Or would building smaller contained buildings that house the same number of families be more beneficial.

Unclear on time frame, or affordable housing for families. There will be new targets for every council to adhere to.

We reflected on these chores and responsibilities and the effect that they have on others and ourselves. We discussed why we should help out at home and be helpful.

DLB- I learnt football skills

JuB- I learnt some keyboard skills.

AB- I watch youtube to improve rugby skills.

Do you think we should have more educational content and restrictions on youtube?

HB- I think right now it is ok but it could be better. They could add a stem tab to take you to educational pages.

SS- I think youtube should have an option were you add your age and the videos are filtered for that age.

DLB- Its not the best for educational videos.

MYG- I think they should have tabs for all subjects. If you wanted to watch sports videos the sports tab would only bring up sports videos.

TH- I think stem tabs would be a great addition to youtube.

RJ- In my opinion I think they should not have educational videos on youtube because youtube is for entertainment.

We finished by having a think about how God created this world and if we are looking after it like god planned. We made a pledge to ourselves in our nests of what we can do or change.

Mrs Malik pledged to try and walk more instead of taking the car.

DLB- A talent is something we are good at.

What are our talents?

CJB- I am good at football because I'm good at dribbling and shooting.

AMA- I'm good at running because i have long legs and I am fast.

RMC- I am a good Magician I can do some really good tricks.

EmW - I am good at writing, I know this because I am creative.

What is a PSALM?

Who is David?

David is the story David and Goliath.

He wore really basic clothes not armour.

We explored a Psalm that David wrote, (see pictures) and we thought:

BW- God is the Shepard and we are the sheep looking up to him.

HW- I think the green fields link to Gods Creation.

DLB- I think it is saying that god will be with us forever.

Activity: watch a video of two girls with short hair who were taken off a football match after being mistaken for boys.

What do you think of the actions taken in the video?

LMN- They could have asked the coach if they were girls or boys.

DLB- the referee could have let them play and questioned the coach at the end.

How does this make you feel?

CB- makes me feel confused because girls can have short hair.

JB - makes me feel annoyed because it was a girls football team and he should have trusted they were girls.

Why do we judge people based on their appearance?

EW - because they are used to doing that.

LMN- they are used to the norms.

What do you think we can do to stop or help ourselves from judging people?

E- I can tell a grown up and it can be addressed.

Today we celebrate by having pancakes. Why do we have pancakes?

AC- because it is shrove Tuesday.

What is shrove Tuesday?

Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent. It is celebrated by eating pancakes because traditionally families would use up all their ingredients before preparing to fast for lent.

Ash Wednesday, the day after shrove Tuesday, is the start of Lent.

What is Lent?

Lent is a 40 day period of praying and fasting in the run up to Easter. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on the Thursday before good Friday. Typically for Lent, people would give up something for 40 days.

What could we give up for lent?

DLB - I am confused because i has been going on for a while now and this war should have ended some time ago.

JaB- I am confused. I wonder when the war started and when it will end.

AMA- I don't think that it is important to have a morning routine.

WM- I think it is important to have a morning routine to be organised.

MYG- I think it depends on what the routine is.

CB- Some people have different routines.

JuB- I think its important to have a routine because it gets you up.

DLB- It can help you to not be rushing.

Picture news: Should stadiums be used for more than just football?

What are your thoughts about the new stadium design?

JuB- I am excited because it looks new and exciting, but I think old supporters will be sad.

LMN- I don't think they should demolish the old stadium, they could turn it into a museum.

DLB-The new stadium looks like it would be too crowded.

What are your thoughts on the new changes?

MYG- I think the design is fine, stadiums are used all around the world for other things.

RJ- I think the idea is good because they can have half time shows.

JuB- I think that it is good they are using it for more than just football. If you don't like football, you can visit the stadium for something else.

Jesus prays for us - Easter is coming up. Jesus knew he was about to die on a cross and rise again after 3 days so he prayed. He prayed that we would know God, be safe, be united together and have love for each other.
