         <title>Researchers have opened a shellfish testing laboratory that will be able to test for toxins in 2015 and is also using an Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference (ISSC) receptor to assess shellfish toxin levels. The weekly collected plankton is also monitored and developed into a forecasting tool where rising water temperatures can be connected to thresholds when HAB events become more likely. The severe algae blooms are still causing toxin levels in shellfish to spike and cause poisoning. </title>
