         <description><![CDATA[<div>The desert biome is a biome that is mostly made up of sand and lacks a sufficient amount of water. They are ussually extremely hot and dry, and do not host much life. The organisms that do live there have adapted to live in the harsh environments. One of the most important desert adaptations is to be able to retain water. </div>]]></description>

The mechanism of disengaging from their roots comes after the plant has matured and the seeds are ripe. The tumbling habit of the plants is their adaptation to scattering ripe seeds for re-growth.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Saguaro Cactus</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The saguaro cactus grows as a column at a very slow rate, with all growth happening at the top of the cactus. By 70 years of age, a saguaro cactus can reach 6 and a half feet tall, and it will start to produce its first flowers. The skin of the cactus is covered with hard spines and flexible bristles as a method of defending the water stored inside. The cactus has a waxy coating that waterproofs the plant, and reduces water lost to the air through transpiration.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Symbiosis in the Desert</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mutualism: Bees and cacti depend on eachother. The cacti provide food for the bees, while the bees help to pollinate the cactus.<br><br>Commencalism: The cactus wren flies and makes a nest for it and it's eggs on a cactus. This offers protection for the bird, and the cactus is neither harmed or benefited.<br><br>Parasitism: Wasps will fly and lay their eggs in the eggs of the praying mantis. When the wasps hatch, they will feed on the larvae of the praying mantis.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Scorpion</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;The scorpion can lower metabolism and that enables them to use less oxygen. During the day scorpions burrow into the sand or hide underneath rocks or other debris, to stay cool while avoiding predators and gaining a vantage point from which to ambush prey. A scorpion's hard exoskeleton is excellent protection from a harsh desert environment, protecting them from the outside world and from some predators. The exoskeleton also aids in water retention and prevents dehydration.</div>]]></description>
