That rats that were kept from any physical activity showed that their neurons had sprouted far more branches. This shows how being inactive can contribute to the health of your brain. As stated in the article, "The results underscore that inactivity can change the structure and functioning of the brain, just as activity does."</div>]]></description>

There was a study that showed middle school students who were in the best physical shape did better on standardized tests and had better grades. There was a report published in 1998 that proved neurogenesis, the growth of new brain cells, occurs in the human brain since scientists didn’t believe we could grow new brain cells. There was also a study that showed an active lifestyle helps preserve gray matter in the brain and slows dementia and Alzheimer’s. The studies provided help get an understanding of the effects of physical activity. As mentioned in the article, "Each of us needs to move our bodies a little bit each day to keep our brains healthy and our minds strong."</div>]]></description>
