The snow clearance team in this neighborhood decided to pile all the snow in the center of the road on N West Temple. Not only does this obscure traffic but it also melts and refreezes to cover more of the road in ice. A different approach to snow on the road could make the community safer.

Traffic Dangers

This intersection of 5 streets at the intersection of Quince St. and 300 N, had only one stop sign. This struck me as a potential problem place. I think it would make for a safer intersection with more stop signs.

Wasted Space

I fouynd this empty lot by the highschool just collecting trash. I thought since it was basically already connected to the school fields it would be a much better use to turn into more sports fields or a park for the school kids to take advantage of.

Crosswalk Catastrophe

I noticed that the students at West High have to cross a busy six lane road to get to their sports fields. With West having so many kids I suggest a bridge or tunnel to make getting kids across the road much safer.

When entering this project I really had no idea what to expect. I didn't expect finding many defecits in the Capitol Hill area because I just think of Salt Lake as a well maintained city. That being said once I started getting really critical i was able to find some really big defecits especially for a neighborhood that I felt should be one of the nicest being in such close proximity of the Capitol. From safety hazards to eye-sores this neighborhood had it all. I feel like a community that I would expect to represent Salt Lake is held to a higher standard .
