I am an Italian 60 year old lady who was brought up in the green farming valleys of South Wales and I now live on the sunny heel of southern Italy, surrounded by olive trees. I teach in a secondary school of economics, in Maglie in the province of Lecce.I have a long experience as a teacher and firmly believe teaching is a vocation. After I graduated in 1981, here in Italy at the University of Lecce, I was asked to stay at university as a “Lettore of English” as I was a native speaker. I immediately, joyfully accepted the post. I was then unaware of “ jumping in at the deep end”, but I was a great observer and very willing to learn. It turned out to be a very rewarding experience which greatly helped me when after six years I decided to become a secondary school teacher because I preferred the idea of being my own boss in the classroom. I have been teaching secondary school students ever since. This is my first school exchange experience, it is never too late too learn! This first Polish experience has been really hard work but highly formative and rewarding. A warm, heart felt THANKYOU to all the people involved!
