Macbeth uttered these words after he is questioned for his reasons for killing Duncan's grooms. Essentially, Macbeth claims that he killed the grooms because his love for Duncan was so strong that he couldn't refrain from killing then. However, since it was Macbeth who truly committed this crime, the quote acts as a coverup for his actions.

In response to this, there has been many incidences of Trump supporters casting their racism on others as they celebrate Trump's victory and his ideals. In one case, on the campus of San Diego State University, two students criticized a Muslim woman while making comments about Trump. They proceeded to steal her car.

This quote can relate to the movie True Romance. True Romance surrounds the character of Clarence Worley and a call girl, Alabama Whitman. After the two engage in sexual relations and decide to get married, they embark on a journey of toxicity as they involve themselves in a drug ring so that they can gain riches. Throughout the movie, both characters commit murder to cover up their actions, much like Macbeth did when he killed Duncan's grooms. The movie ends with the couple in a standoff with the police and gangsters, which they ultimately escape from after killing all of the police and gangsters. Essentially, this movie represents the violent and impulsive decisions that some may do for the sake of love.

Macbeth's impulsive decisions, although not done in his love for another person but rather for his love of having the throne to himself, lead to his demise.

The murder was committed due to a custody battle over their two children. The husband, instead of dealing with the custody battle, killed his wife and then himself.

Another example of harmful actions done for love can be seen in alcoholics. Instead of drinking for the love of someone, they are drinking for the love of the feeling that the numbness of alcohol gives them. Although most alcoholics know that this action is hurting them, they continue to drink as they chase the feeling drunkness provides. This relates to Macbeth because even though he knows his actions are hurting not only him, but those surrounding him, he continues to do it so that he can get his ultimate desire which is his title as King of Scotland.
