After this event, santiago becomes more aware and wary of new environments and learns to be more cautious of people?

• Santiago notices the stranger run away, chasing after the stranger.

• They run and run to dark alley, Santiago caught and about to hit the stranger, but the stranger's gang appears and surround him. Gang leader appears.

• Santiago closes his eyes and questions if his decision to leave everything is wise or not. like why here, should've stayed as a shepherd, losing hope. (small parts)(smth like he is now in a

Sequence of event.

• The bartender comes to the aid and helps Santiago, gang run away with half of Santiago's money.

• The bartender can't speak Spanish, or say "Maktub" before going away or back to work.

• Santiago sees this as an omen to continue, he search for a place to work to get money again.

• He learned that tangier or port full of scammers/thief/gangs

• Santiago meets the crystal merchant and continues working like in the story, learning what "Maktub" means and realizing what the bartender said.

Similar to the gang member, but scarf on neck. Scars on right cheek.

For a moment, it was as if time had stopped. Just as the blade approaches his neck, a loud voice calls out to them. A looming bearded figure across the alleway, speaking an unfamilliar language. The gang leader clicked his tongue, as he tossed away a pouch and signaled to leave. The bandit behind followed his lead, not before throwing Santiago on the ground. Upon looking closer, Santiago recognized that the bearded man was in fact the bartender. The man approached him, speaking in a foreign language. He could only make out one word in the end of his speach, "Maktub"
