I graduated from NAU with a bachelor's in biomedical sciences with a minor in chemistry.

I worked toward a master's in biology (focused on genetics) for 3 years before discovering that I wanted to be a teacher, not a researcher.

• My mother is a middle school math teacher who now works as a math specialist for her district
• My grandmother is a retired math and science teacher who spent the first part of her retirement as a substitute and as a mentor for new teachers
• My grandfather was a history and economics teacher who then taught online after his initial retirement
• My father is a police officer and my step father is a welding inspector, but they have taught me all manner of important life skills using kindness and patience
