Not only did these powerful weapons showcase the US's technological strength of the time, but also ended WWII effectively by getting Japan to resign once and for all from all of the destruction caused. In result of this, this image shows Mamoru Shigemitsu, the Japanese minister signing for Japan's surrender on September 2, 1945, and ultimately ending World War II. Truman, as shown in the following image above, as he presented this new doctrine to all Americans for the first time. This included support politically, militarily, and economically, resulting in new relations between the US and more nations. They seem to be quite amazed, because they were faced with oppression, but were now receiving support from outside resources. In response to the total impediment from basic necessities in Berlin, such as access to water, rails, and roads, in 1948 the US and UK began airlifting supplies from Germany. After Japan lost control of Korea post- WWII, the US and USSR took over and agreed to split Korea into North Korea and South Korea by this "line". The USSR covered the North while the US covered the South and tension rose as these two major powers withdrew from the conflict. Known as De- Stalinization, was a reform created by Khrushchev, who in his new claim to power, expressed his strong hatred for Stalin to all people. As shown in the image, his statue was destroyed and vandalized, portraying how he began to be mocked and looked down on. With this he shined darkness on all of Stalin's actions, portraying him as a criminal, and turning most of the world against him completely. This image is of the USSR's "Sputnik", the first satellite that transmitted signal, being touched up by a USSR technician. The lives of all civilians were negatively impacted for a long time, for example, here is a solider saving a Vietnamese civilian. Vietnam was considered a great sphere of influence by the US and Soviet Union. But, when the North of Vietnam became nationalist, the USSR supported them, and the US supported South Vietnam in the fight to end communism. The Vietnam War broke out violently, sufferably, and lasted from November 1, 1955, to April 30, 1975. This picture depicts the event well and what was happening, even with little explanation. The intense fight for the Suez Canal resulted in this crisis, when Britain, France, and Israel invaded Egypt to get back control of the canal. In addition to the invasion, Britain and France also sunk 40 ships into the canal to block it off. Essentially, the USSR was using Cuba as throw-away land for them to launch missiles on the East coast of the United States in just minutes.
