During this scene, Eddie arises from the teacup after he dies and he realizes that he has no pain in this lower back or his knee. When he gets out he starts to run around and the narrator compares him to a child. I think this is a powerful part of the story because the author is portraying heaven as painless and worry free. The author also says that Eddie hasn't ran in 60 years so this shows that the authors version of heaven is a peaceful and wonderful place.

In this part of the book, Eddie limps as fast as he can to make an attempt to save the young girl before the cart falls on her. When Eddie is about to reach her, the cart falls and Eddie dives towards her in a last desperate chance to save her. He is sadly crushed and the readers are left at a cliff-hanger, wondering if the girl survives. This is a powerful scene because it shows the true selflessness of Eddie and how he was willing to sacrifice his life to try and save her.

When Eddie and the Blue Man are talking, the Blue Man reveals to Eddie that he was at fault for his death. Eddie is completely shocked and he thinks the Blue Man will get revenge. But the Blue Man is only there to give Eddie a valuable lesson. His lesson was that no act of anyone is ever random. This means that everything person does is meaningful whether they know it or not. He also talks about how fairness doesnt apply to life and death. I chose this line because of the truth of it. Life and death is the most unfair aspect of life. Death can come to everyone no matter who they are. Death can come to a murdered on death row as easy as a doctor who saved lives. Life and death is the greatest gamble to ever exist.

The underlines of this picture are showing the cause and effect of the Blue Mans death. The scene portrays the sad truth of perspective. Eddie runs out into the road for his ball and nearly gets hit. But since he didn't, he runs back and plays with his friends. The Blue Man slams on his breaks and swerves out of the way of a kid and dies later on of a heart attack from the scare he got. Later, Eddie realized what he had done and deeply regretted his desicion. I chose this because of a personal experience. I was sitting at a lunch table with my friends when I was younger and I made a silly, stupid comment about one of my friends shirts he was wearing. He later threw it out and never wore it again. A while later, when he moved away, I found out that that shirt was given to him by a family member who passed away. From that day forward, I never depicted a person for what they decided to wear ever again.

In this part of the book, Eddie is getting his lesson from his second person, the Captain. His lesson to Eddie was about sacrifice and how people make sacrifices. Eddie sacrificed his leg for his life. If the Captain didn't shoot Eddie, he would've died. Eddie would eventually forgive the Captain and he would realize that his leg injury was a better outcome then death. I chose this because it taught Eddie a lesson and it also connected me because my dad teaches me lessons everyday.

When they pull Eddie to the truck to try an escape before the plane bombings, the Captain gets out to check the path. As he is walking on the trail, he steps on a land mine and blows up. This was a significant moment because he sacrifices himself and if he didn't put his life on the line, he would've died alongside his whole team instead. I chose this because of the bravery of the character. It takes a lot of guts to put others over yourself and I think more people should be like the Captain. I think more people should strive be a person like the Captain who is fearless and a good friend.

On this page, Eddie attempts to run into the fire to save the person he sees, but he is shot in the leg. After he is shot, Morton drags him away and saves his life. We later learn that he was experiencing PTSD and there wasn't actually a person in the burning building. I chose this part because his leg injury negatively effected the rest of his life. He would not be able to move properly ever again.

Eddie and his group were captured by enemies during the war and they were forced to work in the coal mine. But Rabozzo got very, very sick and when he woke up to work, he was physically unable to work and they killed him. This enraged the whole group and they immediately began to plan an escape to avenge their friend. I chose this part of the story because it shows the true horror and grief that comes with serving your country. I also chose this because of the plot in the book. If they didn't kill Rabozzo, maybe they wouldn't have escaped as fast as they actually did, and maybe the story would be very different.

Ruby is telling Eddie about his father. Eddie's father would take his anger out on Eddie and his brother when he didn't win in cards. He would whip his kids with a belt and throw their toys. This brings out the true character and father that Eddie's dad was and it is truly sad. I picked this portion because of the realness of it. Many kids have to go through life with a dad like this. Having an absent and abusive dad is a very real thing that I don't wish on anybody.

Eddie is released from the hospital and he moves back in to his parents apartment. He is sitting on the couch when his dad comes home, drunk, and tries so start a fight with him. When Eddie stands up against him for the first time, Eddie defends himself and his father never talked to him again after this. This is a key part of the book because it makes readers finalize their ideas and opinions about Eddie's dad. Everyone who reads thinks Eddie's dad is the worst human being and when he tries to punch Eddie is the cherry on top.

During this part, Eddie gets a phone call from his mom and she says that Eddie's dad collapsed during work. Eddie seems to not care and thinks that his dad was just drunk, but then his mom tells him that he was suffering from pneumonia. Eddie tries to tell his mom that it isn't her fault and gets angry that she is thinking that way. As a reader, we can forsee that Eddie's dad was going to die to pneumonia and that it is important because it changes Eddies whole lifestyle. Even though Eddie's dad put his family through hell, the mother was still mortified by the death of her husband.

This scene is the most important part of the chapter. Eddie's dad walked in on Mickey tried to sexually assault his wife. Even though he was enraged, later when Mickeys life was on the line, Eddie's father jumped in and rescued his friend. This was the first time in the whole book, Eddie's dad was described as something positive. He would eventually pass away from pneumonia. This shows the he sacrificed his life for his friend even after what he did. This is the greatest demonstration of loyalty and he see that Eddie's father was actually very caring.

This is the same noise he has nightmares about and he finally finds out that it is children screaming and laughing and playing down by the river. This whole time where he has been thinking about this noise, he now finds out that it is kids playing. I chose this because I read this knowing that this was going to be a interesting final part. I thought about all of the questions Eddie has had about his life and I knew that he was going to get them answered after this scene in the book

After Eddie is placed into the scene, he see a little girl trying to wave him over. When he goes over and starts talking to the girl, he is in disbelief. The girl reveals that she was the girl in the hut and Eddie burned her alive during the war. She was the shadow Eddie saw and he was shot because he was trying to save the girl. This is a very notable part because again, along with the noises, in this part we find out that Eddie actually saw someone. There was actually a girl in the building Eddie lit ablaze. I chose this because of Eddie's emotions. He was sobbing crying and he was in so much disbelief about killing the girl, he couldn't control himself.

"Did I save the little girl?" Tala finally tells him that Eddie was able to push the girl safely out of the way. Eddies worries were finally furfilled and he had no more worries. I chose this because this was the question asked through the whole book that was finally answered.

He is going to be waiting their until the day comes when a person dies and gets Eddie as their person. I chose this because I wanted to add a prediciton. I predict that when Eddie gets a person and had to teach them a lesson, he will teach the person to live your life happy and to strip free of worries. Eddie struggles thoughout the book with worries and sadness and is ultimately dragged him down to give grave. So I think that Eddie will tell his person that life goes by fast and to try to enjoy it.
