If possible, identify the format used by the designer, referring to the formats described in the lecture notes.  Take the whole picture of the story (including the headline, byline, text, image, caption).

Second, insert the picture and write your individual opinion right here on the padlet. Give your comments on the story design, whether it is attractive and adhered to the rules of designing a story, or otherwise. Include your suggestion to make it more attractive.

The news is about 3,000 gather in the light lanterns

            i choose The Sun newspaper because this newspaper is not famous among malaysian. There many newspaper that malaysian like to read such as The Star, New Straits Times, Harian Metro and so on. So, regarding publish the because  to the task that given to me, this newspaper has the criteria that must have in newspaper such as headline,byline,text,image and caption. They use vertical for the text.. However, this newspaper has lack of something.
              In my opinion, this newspaper is quite boring and not attractive because  they put the headline below the picture and caption. Also, the headline does not give an impact to reader to read. The graphic design does not put the picture at right place and editor also does not check the news before the news was publish. The image does not suit for the news and have many image at the same time.The caption also to long to read. The also put the advertisement  and the image of advertisement is bigger than the image of the news that take the space of the text. 
             My suggestion is the headline must be at the top and must give impact to audience to read. It is enough about two image to explain about what happen at the event. The caption also must be short because audience does not have time to read. No need to put advertisement at the same page because it is not related to the news. Maybe we can put the advertisment at another page or the specific page that tell us about advertisment. last but not least, the news must be put above or below the image. I have choose Metro Ahad newspaper. The story is about the punishment received by the international smuggler.The story in the newspaper has a headline and dateline. For the photo, the designer use the magshot photo style. It is also consist U- shaped text block. In my opinion, the good one is  the story design is simple and attractive for the readers to read the story. The readers are easy to understand what is the story about.

I choose the Berita Harian newspaper as the newspaper fulfilled the desired characteristic.
The newspaper is about October Fest ( Beer Festival ) in Kuala Lumpur. I interesting for this newspaper because it have beautiful Headline, photo and great news. it also have mugshot and dateline. Next, this newspaper also has write the name of editor. The view of photo in this newspaper is horizontal and clearly. In my opinion, this newspaper have good story design and easily for readers to understand.

In my opinion , this news attracted because this news tell about one race can accept other race to be a family. This news not too long story, so we are not so bored. This news also make very attracted because this news have a additional info

I have decided to choose SINAR HARIAN newspaper in order for me to comment and to make suggestion about the story design of this news.

First of all, the headline is quite interesting because it use catchy word to make the readers questioning. Under the headline, there is hammer to explain more or summarize the headline. From what I see, the writer has stated the byline, text, picture, caption, quote, attribution, dateline in the page. 

Besides that, there is a mugshot photo in horizontal style in the page with the cutline that contain the name of the sources, description and when it happen to elaborate more about the picture.

The style of text in the news is in horizontal which help to please the eyes of the readers. It also create the illusion that the stories are shorter.

About my suggestion to this story design is how about we add one more photo to make it more understanding? Because the text also explain more on other person otherwise the readers maybe did not know about the other person and it will make it less interesting. 

Last but not least, I like the action in the photo flow strongly in one direction.

Based on the news that I choose, there are four basic elements of newspaper which are photo, cutline, headline and text. They used a horizontal photo which has a cutline below the photo. In my humble opinion, the main headline was very suitable and attractive but the photo that they used not suitable at all because the people in the photo is behind the camera causing the image to appear unattractive and not beautiful. I would like to suggest that the photographer should take a photo only at the home side to make the photo more beautiful and attractive.

Based on the newspaper that i have selected , Utusan Malaysia . This is the dominant  photo because it just have one photo . The format that used by the designer  in photo is square style . In my opinion, the story is interesting because it is about the community. The story fulfill the 5W 1H. But the story is too long .The designers have used the L-shaped where the picture is put at a side. The headline is not really catchy but they put hammer and explains a bit about the headline. Besides that, they used mugshot to catch the readers and highlight it that is is the important thing in the story. But on the other hand, the picture is dominat by the advertisement below it, So maybe there should not put any advertisement in the same page since the picture of the story is small and not alot.

Based on this newspaper, the page design that have been used is in vertical photo style and it is fully required by the thoughtful analysis in term of size, content and as well as direction. This newspaper is a tabloid newspaper because it is roughly half the size of broadsheet and it has 6 column grids. So, it is easier to produce and cheaper to print and ads can dominate a tabloid page more effectively than in broadsheet.The vertical photos have more dramatic shape because the putting stories around the vertical photos can be tricky. For the dominant vertical photos usually run either 2 columns wide. It used L-shaped wrap. When there are two or more photos, they used one photo as a dominant to the other photo to make the reader focus on it.On the other hand, this news have 3 side of modular page designs (above, left and the right one). Modular design is the idea of treating stories as modules. I like to comment that the writer is creative because he knew how to trim the text/ photo in suitable position.Last but not least, this news also kept all story in rectangular shape. For the shapes and sizes it seems suitable and the art also seems balanced.
