Implicit Bias Test Results

The first test that I took was the Race IAT. The results suggested that I had no automatic preference between Dark skinned people and Light skinned people. This was not surprising because I don't have an issue with people of any color or race. Race should not play a part in what you think of a person.
The second IAT I took was the Gender-career test. I was shocked at the results. The result was that I am moderately automatic association for male with career and female with family. This was shocking to me because I don't associate male and female roles. In today's society males are stay at home dads while women provide for the family and vice versa. This was very interesting.

My core belief is that all students can achieve their full potential academically, although it may be on a different level or pace. I believe that every student has the right to participate in the school counseling program. I believe that every student should be treated with respect, valued for their individual differences, and given the equal opportunity to succeed. I believe that ethnical, culture, racial differences, and special needs should be considered in the planning and implemented in the school counseling program. I believe a school counselor advocates for each student and for the school counseling program. I believe school counselors abide by the American School Counselor Association professional ethics.

I would like to establish a school counseling program that is diverse for all students. I want to establish a counseling program that is consistent with the expected developmental stages of learning, a program that is based on school data and evaluated by school counselor stated goals and related student competencies and utilizes the many combined resources of the community.

My vision statement is that every student is uniquely talented learners who will graduate by engaging in personal inquiry and growth, who will gain social responsibility, and academic and career excellence in environment with security, warmth, and encouragement.
