All sorts of animals are being affect all around the world like here in Africa these elephants and birds are all smothered in it. and if they eat to much of the garbage their lives could end because of the amount to plastic take in. Because plastic can not be digested and if people don't do anything to stop this than animals will continue to suffer and die and the environment will to.

My op-ed is about pollutions affect on wildlife. This is about what is affecting the wildlife and how it is affecting the wildlife. Two main contributors to this problem are corona virus waste and food containers, Covid waste consists of masks, gloves and more and this garbage that is supposed to be ending up in land fills is ending up in the ocean instead. The sea animals like fish and other sea animals are attracted to garbage/ plastic, when they go to the garbage there is broken down plastics called micro plastics and when the fish come close they are inhaling/ eating the micro plastic and the micro plastics can't be digested in the fish so the garbage just stays in the fish for the rest of it's life which shortens greatly by the plastic. Food take out waste mainly consists of tinfoil takeout plates and plastic utensils and all of this garbage is really bad for the environment and is causing climate change which majorly affects animals and causes lots to suffer and die. So I wrote about this topic for my op-ed because I felt that it was a very important topic that needed to be addressed because if us people don't start doing something together to stop this it never will end and it will just keep getting worse and therefore affecting the environment/ wildlife more.

Maxwell Manchester
●
1m
