I am an artist and educator living in Lexington, Kentucky. I have taught Introduction to Art, 2D Design, Drawing at BCTC for the past six years.  I obtained my Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture and art education at the University of Cincinnati and my Master of Fine Arts in sculpture and textiles from University of Kentucky. I create textile based sculptures that use embroidery, weaving, and quilting and often exhibit my works of art locally, nationally, and internationally. Introduction to Art is my favorite course to teach. I enjoy helping students get in touch with their creative sides, while gaining an in depth appreciation for the Visual Arts! What a crazy last few months it has been? I hope you all have been hanging in there during the pandemic and have stayed healthy and safe. I have spent the a lot of time hanging out with my six-year old daughter, Maisie and my husband, Andrew. We have taken a lot of walks, spent time working in the garden, and have played A LOT of board games!

I come from a large family, as does my Fiancé, which brings even more chaos to our lives. I have lived in Lexington most of my life. I moved here with my mom when I was 15. I am from Lawrenceburg, KY. I am in my last semester at BCTC. I have two daughters, ages 7 and 5. My family enjoys playing video games together, going to nature parks, and just spending time outside. My husband works from home as a Software Developer, so we enjoy spending lunch together as a family every day. We recently added two Chihuahuas to our family as well-Jonas and Bingo. They're our first family pets and we love them very much. I found out I needed one more class to graduate this semester, so I chose this class because I've always been interested in art. I've been to a few wine and canvas painting classes which were super fun. I also use a book by Mark Kistler called Learn to Draw in 30 Days. I stay busy so it has been longer than 30 days... but, I'm not gonna give up! This is my first time back in school.  My last semester was in 1988, so I hope i make it through this course.  I attended Morehead State University from 1985-1988, studying Accounting.  However, I was not able to complete my degree. I am taking this course because I want to be better educated about art and try to understand all I can about it, and I am needing a Humanities class for my program here at BCTC which is CMM (Computerized Manufacturing & Machining). This is my line of work. Plus, I enjoy painting.  I love reading, working out, going to movies, spontaneous road trips and traveling, to name a few. I was born in Georgetown Kentucky. I now live in Nicholasville Ky and born June 25th1985 I love my birthday because its to the day, 6 months from Christmas. every 6 months is a time for gifts. Well that was more so for when I was a kid. Now its about being able to spend time with friends and family. I am 35 years of age now and continuing my education to reach the next steps in life. I am not good with computers. So I am worried about how well I can do. I'm a hands on type of guy. I was raised up on the farm and their is nothing at all I cant do on any farm in Kentucky from riding horses to raising crops and working on equipment. I'm going to school for Industrial Maintenance. I work with a tree service company and another job for extra cash. Well Its time to go fishing. one of my number one hobbies. I'm all about the outdoors and sports. Also a big reason in loving art is Its in everything we see and do. I took this course as part of a curriculum to obtain an associates degree in web development, my main professional interest. I enjoy many types of music, such as Daft Punk (RIP 1993 - 2020) and Hall & Oates. I have tried to get my degree before but time was a major constraint and I was unable to complete it. This time should be different, as I have the extra time to do so. Art has been a favorite topic of mine in the past. When I was in third grade, I made a painting of a flower pot that went to the local children's museum of art for a while. Unfortunately it was lost years ago.
