Project Context

Language can be experienced as Resistance, Identity, Exclusion, Inclusion, Boundaries, and Bonds and more. It is a complex, emotional, sometimes very visible, sometimes invisible part of identity. We look to co-create with a group of young people, a project that focuses on enhancing understanding and the practical application of language in shaping youth

identity and social dynamics. The promotion of language learning and linguistic diversity is one of the specific objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme and outlined in the TFEU.

The problem:

- within many E+ contexts, the added value of language conscious approaches are not considered & the privileges & barriers of language often not reflected on by facilitators or organisations, leading to inequalities being highlighted or even invisible/ignored, and the capacities of these communities lost to our sector.

Objectives

Seek to achieve the following objectives:

1/ Connect the participants and orgs from our prior language-based KA1s, to explore, document, and develop pedagogical

practices from the diversity of language contexts young people live within, and how this impacts their learning within

local/international youth work (considering diversity & inclusion elements, esp. re (forced) migration)

2/ Increase consciousness among youth work practitioners (local, and international trainers) of language diversity, barriers,

and privileges, especially in the context of the migration, and forced migration in the context of war. Staff of our partner

organisations directly represent displaced young people, and we will draw on their professional and personal networks to

co-create this project in a safe manner.
