Giraffes were commonly found in West Africa, 
 to the south of the Sahara.
•What do they eat?
These animals are browsers, which means they eat the leaves of bushes and, especially, trees.
In zoos, giraffes are fed mostly on herbivore pellets, which provide them with a well balanced diet. They are also given acacia branches as a more natural type of food.
•How do they sleep?
 As babies, giraffes lower themselves to the ground, tuck their legs beneath their bodies and often rest their heads on their back.
 Adults often follow a similar style and sleep like this too, but only for minutes at a time.
