I also plan on using this to help shed light on various organizations created by teachers to support each other financially such as the Teachers Pay Teachers organization. This will then help me develop my point discussing why increasing teacher pay could benefit students who aren't getting the attention they need.

This article discusses how teacher wages can affect student performance in schools. The author discusses how teacher pay has become insufficient in sustaining day-to-day life. This reasoning is why many teachers are finding other ways to add to their income on top of teaching classes. Due to this, many teachers are not giving their full attention to their students, affecting how they perform in the classroom. This, among other reasons discussed in the article, have attributed to an inconsistency between school performance levels as viewed by the government, which then cut spending more because of the inconsistencies.

This article uses sports as a way to discuss how education affects other areas of people's lives. The author talks about how various professions, such as professional sports, can see varying levels of pay in correlation to the education received by the individual. The author also delves into how this phenomena can affect different social circles and scenarios such as how one would address a person who earns more than them, but has less education. This also highlights how an education isn't always necessary for a high-wage job if you work hard to develop your craft, like professional athletes do. Lastly, this article highlights the correlation between education levels in various professional organizations and how those affect members within the organizations while they work and also after they retire.

The author talks about the well-known topic of if student athletes are performing well academically or not. The author then takes this idea and uses it to talk about what would happen if that money were allocated into education or health care. The arguments made by the author very passionately talk about the education and public health crisis that America is currently in. The author then takes that idea and asks why we spend so much money on professional sports if such a pressing matter exists. Lower salaries than they deserve, improper working conditions, and also the general education level of the teacher contribute to some of the arguments made in the article. The author then uses these points to highlight some of the rewards for "sticking with teaching" despite many of these challenges. All the while highlighting how those challenges cost the American education system so many good teachers so often.

I found this book to be very informative; especially about how the professional sports industry works. I felt that this book helped me understand how the industry generates as much money as it does every year. I also found it very insightful and felt that it helped me eliminate a bit of my bias towards educator wages because of how "over the table" the sports industry is.

Lastly, I plan on using this to help support the argument for why athletes get paid as much as they do.

I made this survey to get some immediate opinions from a stratified sample of people about Teacher and Professional Athlete Wages. I asked 15 employees at the Kroger Marketplace on Coventry Road five questions regarding the subject. The questions discussed if they watched professional sports often, if they believed that professional athletes deserve the amount of money they are paid, and if teachers are getting paid enough amongst other questions. The object was to retrieve a primary source that I could use for the project to help support my points. Overall, the sample provided me with a lot of interesting information that I look forward to using in my essay.
