"President Jair Bolsonaro pushes 'conspiracy theories" to evade responsibility of Amazonia's forest fires"
So, two things: first "Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research said this week that there have been 74,155 fires in the country so far this year, most of which were in the Amazon. That represents an 80% increase over last year." (Vice, 2019), and secondly, President Jair Bolsonaro (a famously far-right politician and friend of Donald Trump), accused environmental NGO's for starting the fires to "call attention to him". But the thing is, this Bolsonaro guy is also famously against environmental protection and favours destructive industries (who really do start fires to clear lands for more agriculture) in his country and elsewhere.
1. This guy is obviously a Realist, and so are his actions, in the sense that he would rather use the oportunity to try to limit the power of NGO's that cooperate internationally.
2. He's trying to secure a private alliance with Donald Trump by behaving exactly like Trump regarding environmental issues, thus, trying to concentrate hard power.
Source: Marcin, T.
