Before the drought the birds beak was 9 cm and they couldn't eat very much with there short beaks. 
2. After the drought there beaks grew to 12-14 cm and they were able to eat more things with their beaks.

The birds with the bigger depth of the beak where able to survive longer because they can adapt better and eat more seeds.
2. When the beaks are bigger they have different traits, like the amount of seeds they can eat and what they look like.
