Katniss' tone is sentimental. “And while I was talking, the idea of actually losing Peeta hit me again and I realized how much I don't want him to die. And it's not about the sponsors. And it's not about what will happen when we get home. And it's not just that I don't want to be alone. It's him. I do not want to lose the boy with the bread” (Collins 278). She is thinking back on the help that Peeta gave her when she needed it. Now she knows that he needs her help, and she wants him to be okay regardless of anything else happening in her life. This is sentimental because she thinks back on their bond and how she feels the urge to help.

Johns tone is manipulative "hardly lets me stir without special direction, I have a schedule prescription for each hour in the day."(Stetson), this shows that refuses to let her do things on her own and has put her on a bunch of meds for what he says is nothing.

John’s tone is patronizing. The story says “He is very careful and loving, and hardly lets me stir without special direction. I have a schedule prescription for each hour in the day; he takes all care from me, and so I feel barely ungrateful not to value it more” (Stetson). It seems John is helpful and kind but in reality he is arrogant and doesn’t care for her as much as she thinks.

In the text he says "can you not trust me as a physician when I tell you so?" Stetson,

It shows that he is being neglecting of her condition because he is using his occupation as an excuse for her to trust him

In the story “The Yellow Wallpaper “ John is a little careless. In the story it says “ There is nothing so dangerous, so fascinating, to a temperament like yours. It is a false and foolish fancy. Can you not trust me as a physician when I tell you so?” (Stetson) this quote shows that he doesn’t really care how she is actually feeling he just wants her to think she is fine.

The tone is sad. “Well, the Fourth of July is over! The people are all gone and I am tired out. John thought it might do me good to see a little company, so we just had mother and Nellie and the children down for a week.”(Charlotte Perkins Stetson) The way she didn’t enjoy seeing peiple despite her husband thinoing it would do her good. The way she is trying to get better but still feeling bad like she does.

The yellow wallpaper is kinda horrifying if you look at it in a certain way mean while a women who is a little ill or so her husband says moves in after day by day goes by she starts to notice her husband and the other maid starts acting weird around the wallpaper so she starts guarding it and gets paranoid about seeing a women in the wallpaper and starts thinking her husband is been acting weird around the wallpaper but once shes had enough and starts tearing it down just in time for her controlling husband John to come in a past out on the floor ''Now why should that man have fainted?

John's tone is negligent.

"John does not know how much I really suffer. He knows there is no reason to suffer, and that satisfies him." (Stetson). He is ignoring her condition because he only views her illness as a burden, not something to be treated, despite his position as a physician. He also doesn't believe she is sick at all, because she doesn't show any symptoms, at least not physically.

In the Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, john was a patriarchal, rational doctor who symbolizes societal oppression of women. in the text it states “John is practical in the extreme. he has no patience with faith and intense horror of superstition, and he scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in figures”. this is why i believe that John’s tone symbolizes societal oppression of women.

The narrators tone goes from happy "Still I will proudly declare that there is something queer about it." to angry "I get unreasonably angry with John sometimes. I'm sure I never used to be so sensitive. I think it is due to this nervous condition." to obsessive. "I have watched John when he did not know I was looking, and come into the room suddenly on the most innocent excuses, and I've caught him several times looking at the paper! And Jennie too. I caught Jennie with her hand on it once."
