HOW WAS MANDELA LESS PERFECT

Nelson could have been viewed as less than perfect in various ways. He did end the war of apartheid and fight for what was right, but in doing this he broke multiple laws and discovered techniques such as protesting and working to extinguish apartheid. This was considered illegal, hence his jail time.

It is clearly evident that Mandela is an inspiration, not only did he change culture, rights for black humans and racial segregation. He also did jail time for persisting with what he believed was right and did not give up on his dream. Nelson has broadened my world view significantly, he stood up for what he believed was right and persevered. Before researching and completing this task, I did not understand how severe the separation from white to black individuals was and the apartheid that took place in south Africa. Mandela has changed my outlook on everyday life scenarios, he fought for what he believed was fair and handled the consequences given to benefit individuals in the community.

MANDELA'S WORLDVIEW VS PREVAILING

Nelson Mandela’s worldview was very much different compared to the prevailing worldview. As you may know, Mandela’s worldview is that no matter the race and skin colour, everyone should have equal rights. This meant being able to vote, having the same medical and educational facilities and whites not being recognised and number 1 priority. Mandela went against many laws and regulations during his fight for freedom, black rights and segregation. According to bishop Don Dabula, Nelson Mandela was a “very religious man and believed in the existence of almighty.” (HISTORY, 2019)

Nelson Mandela’s work has encouraged a more open minded view on situations by giving lectures, public speeches, and challenging the white African president to protests. He contested for what he suspected what was wrong In the country and began to try and solve these problems. Mandela improved the lifes for hundreds and thousands of black people around the country. He took illegal options and risks to try and find an answer and to agree to end apartheid. Mandela may have offended the white individuals in South Africa when trying to solve things, he could have come across very confronting and accusing towards white people.

Nelson Mandela was born on the 18th of July 1918 and born in the village of Mvezo in the Eastern Cape. He took the role of president for America between 1994-99 and changed peoples views significantly, especially towards black people. Mandela spent 27 years in prison for multiple crimes, however the main reason was due to him working to get rid of apartheid in south Africa. Upon his release, he was greeted as a hero to the wider community and appointed as the deputy president of the ANC (African National Congress). In this position, Nelson negotiated with De Klerk (President of South Africa) to end apartheid. Mandela inspired thousands of people to devote their lives to peace, justice and reconciliation and is remembered for promoting a message of forgiveness and equality. Racial segregation and apartheid were terminated in 1991. Three years later in south Africa, elections were held in which black people were able to vote (Bbc.co.uk, 2019).
