This resource is extremely useful since it both describes the four tenets of emotional intelligence, and also discusses way to improve those skills (Helpguide, 2020). It also discusses how emotional intelligence can impact your performance in a work center, such as helping you to network if you have high emotional intelligence (Helpguide, 2020). It also discusses the impact emotional intelligence has on physical and mental health, which is summarized by saying strong emotional intelligence helps to lead to a strong physical and mental health due to the stress management aspects of it (Helpguide, 2020).
Campbell, S. (2017, October 5). 10 simple ways to build a collaborative, successful work environment. Entrepreneur. https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/302126

This resource provides 10 tips to modify a work environment to encourage collaboration. Some of these tips are fairly rudimentary, like setting expectations, using team member strength, fostering an environment of open communication, and recognizing and rewarding collaborative actions; however, the basics are typically the areas that are forgotten about (Campbell, 2017). This resource also discusses how to achieve those essentials, such as using a personality test to determine strengths (Campbell, 2017). Also, the topics are general enough that they can be applied to various work environments.

Sprouts. (2016, April 15). Growth mindset vs. fixed mindset [video]. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUWn_TJTrnU

This youtube video shows the differences between a fixed and growth mindset, and the behaviors associated with both mindsets (Sprouts, 2016). For example, a person with a fixed mindset views criticism as an attack on their abilities while a growth mindset views criticism as an opportunity to grow (Sprouts, 2016). This difference shows that individuals with more of a growth mindset handle challenging opportunities better than those with a fixed mindset.(Sprouts, 2016). By knowing the characteristics, an instructional coach can work on developing a growth mindset in their instructors, or to understand the fixed mindset of individuals and vary their approach to tasks and evaluation based on that.

Ury, W. (2007). Getting Past No: Negotiating in Difficult Situations. Bantam.

This book is extremely useful for communicating, especially with subordinates. This book helps to explain ways to set up a room to have productive communication, and how to approach helping others come around to a new point of view (Ury, 2007). Since instructional coaches help to implement changes, there will be people how oppose these changes. Knowing how to communicate effectively will allow coaches to be more successful in their job, and if those coaches know how to help disagreeable instructors understand why their change is important, they will be even more successful (Ury, 2007). This book may focus on negotiating, but it is better described as a book that helps a person work with people who are reluctant to change (Ury, 2007).

This resource discusses what an instructional coach should do to promote proper communication amongst their instructors. The recommendations are the common ones, such as showing empathy and actively listen (Thomas, 2018). This also touches on building a collaborative environment since it focuses on building trust and finding common ground (Thomas, 2018). Most importantly, instructional coaches should display effective communication techniques so that the instructors can follow their lead (Thomas, 2018).
