HAPPY 22ND BDAY!!! i can’t believe we’ll (most likely) never unknowingly register for all the same classes again;( it’s been a pleasure being your friend & class buddy since freshman year and to have grown with u throughout college:’) you had the unique privilege of watching me fall asleep in various classes of differing subjects in different countries. & thanks for joining me in finessing all those group projects🥸 i’m so glad we were able to become closer in korea, whether it was through degenerate activities til 8 in the morning or karaoke sessions w/ the alc we smuggled in. anyways i’ll keep this short,, thanks for being my friend n u rock!!! hope you have the best day, miss u, see u (hopefully) soon, love u !!!!

i remember seeing you laughing and chatting up a storm with literally anyone who crossed your path and i thought “wow he seems so popular, i wanna be friends with him, but he probably too cool for me.” little did i know we would soon be put into the same ice breaker group and be sharing weird quirks and fun facts about each other. i must’ve hella manifested that shit bc look at us now, 3 years later! i realized you’re not actually thaaaaat cool, but you aight i guess :D

okay okay fine i’ll admit you’re kinda cool. 

jokes aside though, i am beyond blessed for all of the times we’ve spent together thus far. we have been there for each other through thick and thin, so i am confident 761 miles and ~adulting~ ain’t got nothin on us ( •̀ - •́ ) you are one of the most bright, kind, and humble souls to walk this earth and i am so grateful that i can be a part of your journey to becoming a physician/surgeon and whatever else you want to do in life. even when we can’t be together in person, please know i am forever rooting for you and support you front afar <3 

don’t get too used to it, though! joseph and i are gonna become your next door neighbor one day and bombard you everyday with our children in tow for canto lessons bc our children WILL be trilingual!!!

sang yat fai lok my dear little! it’s almost funny the sheer amount of long af sappy essays we’ve written to each other for each other’s birthdays or pickups etc at this point and i really do think it’s a tribute to how strong our friendship has been since it started 4 years ago (we don’t slack around here xd). 

it’s wild to think i met you when you were a wee 18 year old and now you’re 22!!!!!!! here ends our long college journey that we saw each other thru and here begins our journey of adulting throughout our 20s. i wonder how the two journeys will compare when we look back and read this decades from now (bc i have full confidence we’ll still be tight then and still back on our bullshit). 

i know you were worried before going to our first edc this year because you didn’t know everyone in the group super well and might not have a good time, and i thought that was ironic at the time because i think honestly, little, to me, you are one of the most personable, well-rounded, kindest, and magnetic individuals i know. your good-natured and good vibes personality practically shines out of your pores and i think you could basically get along with anyone in the world (who is chill and isn’t annoying af AHAHA high five for our mutual distaste of people) and i think your resulting bonds from edc is such a heartwarming example of this :) seeing you hangout with nina and brandon this past summer post-edc makes me soft af

(i’ve said this before but) you make everything around you better. not gonna lie, a lot of people add a neutral presence to a group, like not that their presence is positive or negative but it doesn’t really make a difference to how much of a good or bad time i’m having. but your presence is always always exceedingly positive. edc honestly would’ve been so much worse without you and i am so excited to go again with you next year and expand our group!! whenever you’re with me, you always add a positive presence and i’m having so much more fun and i’m sure everyone around us feels the same way about you. i could be having the worst time or worst trip, and having you by my side would automatically pick up my mood from before. you have such a good heart, and it’s so easy to spot that in you. thank you for being who you are, and being so easy to love. i hope this book that me and sally made shows you how loved you are by dozens and dozens of your friends and can immortalize your 4 year journey in college and all the bonds you’ve built if you ever have a bad day and want a pick me up or if you’re ever feeling nostalgic and want to take a look back.

thank you for being my best friend and someone i can trust unconditionally with anything. idk how i got so lucky to be both your big and your friend but i am eternally grateful for MFKING ASA FOR BRING US TOGETHER OF ALL THINGS!! HAVE A GREAT BDAY LITTLE AND HOPE YOU’RE SURPRISED AF THAT I’M IN NEW YORK ON UR BIRTHDAY HEHE :)
