drum kits themselves were being put together for jazz/dance bands in the 1920's and maybe late 1910's, they would attach many percussion items like wood blocks, cymbals any many more which became drum kit staples.

The drumkits were first assembled in the states but drums themselves were made all across the world like in African tribes or Ancient China which also made cymbals along with Turkey which also made cymbals.

Fun Fact:tom drums were also made in China for the use of drumkits they weren't originally used how they're now but were used as percussion.

Why they became popular: During the 1920's in the States the recession made it more expensive to hire more musicians for more instruments so there became a demand for people who could play multiple instruments at a time segwaying the popularity of a drum kit to rise

What genres are they used in: Drumkits are used in most if not all genres now as they're the base of songs along with the bass guitar. But the drums themselves were also used folk songs/military marches

Famous drummers (that I know): Jimmy the Rev (RIP), John Bonham, Matt Helders, Michael Thomas, Phil Collins, Topper Headon

Performances:

The Clash live at Shea Stadium: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-cjjzNbg70

Arctic Monkeys live at Glastonbury 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-cjjzNbg70

Hatsune Miku, Hatsune miku expo 2024 US: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-cjjzNbg70

Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare live at Hollywood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-cjjzNbg70

What do I find interesting/suprising about the history: I find it interesting that they used many different sorts of percussion that seem odd now on the old drumkits and they way equipment was made back then (like with the different ways a kick pedal was made and operated) and how some drums were hit.

zetsubou no oko (Hill of despair in English) - Plastic Tree

The song is in 4/4, 115-120 bpm, it opens with a distorted solo bass riff which then is followed by the drums and guitar(s?) all coming in having a jumpy guitar riff which then after the intro goes into a quieter and softer verse where vocals come in and arpeggio chords played on guitar

one of the lyrics in the first verse are "I want to sway in a dream so deep that no one can reach me" I interpret that the singer/write wants to disappear or maybe commit suicide, or could also mean that he wants to live in a dream/fantasy that only they could control.

on the first chorus the writer/singer says "Tell me: Where is this magical happiness? I’ll go to sleep again
And when I awaken, my wish will come true, and on the hill of despair I’ve grown so oddly accustomed to,
When I had awakened, my wish came true" It seems like he's praying to something for his wish to come true, as he's so used to being on "the hill of despair" that he has grown used to but he awakes to find his dream he talked about prior has actually come true, on the 2nd chorus he repeats it again but adding "and while crying, I laughed" expressing the relief he is possibly feeling from his wish coming true.

The song gives me a sense of being at peace with hopelessness which is strangely comforting. I just love the song i dont know how to explain it but I also just love the band and the singers voice and the drummer

His songs originally exclusively used Miku as the singer but now uses Rin, GUMI and flower. He is well known for managing VOCALOIDs to perform shouts, screams and grunts through the use of filters and effects, and his melody generally has a heavy bass line. He was one of the first vocaloid producers to make vocaloid metal

I had the Main instrument, the jitter srings be more prominent on the right side and the drums on the left so then there was room for the synth to cut through the middle and create a sort of platform for the drums and jitter strings to be on.

I also made the jitter strings slightly quieter than everything else so it will be easier to layer other melodies and instruments over the main melody and so the bass of the drums has a bigger impact

The intro sounded very well, we all came in on time, everything was going very well until the solo,I did the fill perfectly into it but because the guitars have to harmonise the solo either one of them went off time at some parts but also went back in time at some bits in the solo but after the solo it was going well again until the outro because I did not know when to stop.

I think we did do very well overall as we had only started learning the song 3-ish weeks ago and Haydon and Kurt had to relearn the solo 2 days ago swell.

There was only 3 or 4 times when I was rushing but other than that I was on time, we could have moved more on stage but this song isn't really one you could move a lot to like headbanging.

Next time it would be better once we got the solo perfect.

Playing this song with other people has helped me improve my timing as we have to be very tight as a band which helps me just become a greater musician in the future as other people will be able to rely on me for timing
