We were woken up this morning drenched in cold water thrown upon us by our superiors. That is how we start our day, being woke with a start. We begin to do our work. To start we chop wood for the fires. We need to have enough wood to keep our superiors warm throughout the day. It was still pitch black out, and we had no food in our stomachs. One of our equal counterparts swung the axe at the wrong angle and hit himself in the knee. There was blood and screaming. He was told to get back up and keep working. He refused, and we were ordered to pick him up. He limped and continued his work, all of us being more cautious of where we were swinging. After a few hours of work, we finally had enough wood to fuel the fires for the day and night so we were given a ten minute break. Where we were given a piece of stale bread and a little bit of foggy water. This was a better day then most, usually we had to eat while doing our next task; because we finished early we had a little bit of spare time. The rest of the day we were whipped and preformed tasks for the manor. Mainly harvesting the crops and doing backbreaking work with little breaks. We were born into our lives, we can not change how we were born. We work for little food and no money. We are the slaves of our time.

What are we?

I woke up this morning on the farm that I work on. Sadly I have to work with lots of serfs on this farm. The lord is cruel and makes the serfs work extremely early in the morning to collect fire work. Some time later in the day one of the serfs hit himself in the leg with an axe, I felt a little bad for them but I knew better then to help them. While the serfs were working wth fire and steel, I was in the field harvesting the corn. The corn was tough to harvest, but when I have complaints I remember that I am being paid and my work is less harsh then the serfs. After this we were all sent to work at the manor.

In the times of the Middle Ages there was a great manor called Talledega. Talledega was controlled by one person, the Lord of the land. The lord did nothing of consequence. Woke up whenever they wished, did whatever they wished, and lived in decadent living conditions. The lord employed many people, including a righteous knight; who protected the manor. Some peasants who were paid for their work and managed all of the area including the manor. The final men and women that worked in the manor had little choice in the matter. They were surfs, males and females born into slavery. They received no pay, and improper living conditions.

One day as the glorious sun rose the Serfs were already beginning their backbreaking work. One serf led them in their routine of the day. To start they begun to split wood for their superiors fires. A warm lord is a happy lord. With fear of death they worked fast before the sun rose to split all the wood needed for the day. Once all the wood was split the Serfs rested as the Peasants woke up, and joined them taking a few breaths before their next job. The serfs and peasants weren't actually very different. The serfs were born into slavery and received no money. The Peasants chose this life and received little money. The peasants and serfs exchanged little words. While the serfs and peasants were sitting on logs and eating stale pieces of bread a bear came out of the woods. It was roaring, I would be lying if I said that not a single peasant or serf didn't let themselves go. Then a valiant knight cam up behind them, and thrust his sword into the bears head. Killing the beast. The knight climbed off his horse and exclaimed, "Shouldn't you be sharpening my blades or tending to my steed?" Without arguing the peasants and serfs went to their next set of tasks. One of the peasants entered the great hall, where the lord was sitting patiently at a giant table. Eating in grace of food that made the mouth water at the sight and smell. The peasant approached the lord and bowed. He then rose at the lords approval and said, "The others and I finished building the water wheel, we will be able to create flower and fine grain. We now have no other need to go to town." The lord nodded with approval. The peasant stood up to leave, then turned around and said, "I recently had a child, could I ask for a little extra shekels for my extra work?" Without saying a word the lord stood up, walked over to the peasants and pulled out a blade and stabbed him in the stomach. The peasant fell to the floor, dead before he hit.
