The book Every Song Ever by Ben Ratliff was okay, and just that. when I had Initially saw the prompt i thought about giving it a solid 10/10 since i thought that's what would get me a good grade, but honesty is the best policy right? Instead of lying to you and hopefully saving you from your monotonous grading of people who thought as i did but actually went through with it to suck up, i'll keep this 100% honest in answering what I thought, what my favorite aspects were, what i found problematic and finally how has it changed how i listen to music.
lets start with one, what i thought.
In all sincerity and honesty, it was okay, i mean i didn't hate it, but im also not about to buy 'every book ever' that this guy wrote.
my favorite aspect was how easy this book was to read.
obviously Ratliff's goal wasnt to make this like metamorphosis but for the classes textbook this is easy to read and transitions okay.
what i found problematic in the text however, was that in some chapters he doesnt explain what his motifs or elements mean, he just kinda beats around the bush and uses examples. and finally this wont change at how how i listen to music, i dont care enough to analyze it in my everyday life.
