This was a theory that Massachusetts Colony could be a new place for the rebirth, and that god would be found in a new scripture and a strong work Ethic. This also explains that there would be a whole education system that would be changed and kids would be read the words of God to. No separation between church and state.

Their goal was to make sure none of the churches had any catholic reminisce and to pursue John Calvin's ideas. Persecution began for the puritans when Anglican Church didn't have supporters. The community of the puritans was a theocracy, which was the government combined of church and state.

Witch Hysteria in Salem was formed from a belief that Satan was acting in the world. It was believed by the Puritans that Satan himself would recruit witches, etc. to come and work for him. And some of the symptoms of someone being cursed with being a witch would be bizarre, odd disputes, unusual posses which could lead to frozen posture, or biting and pinching sensations.

Witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts began back in the early 1692. It was reported that young females were being accused of witch craft, and if any were accused, and tried guilty they would be hung due to their evil acts. This image shows a huge crowd of people surrounding in almost a church and a trial is being held. The girls being in this photo would act out in such bizarre, and odd ways whenever a witch was near. At the end of 1692 around 200 people were jailed and accused of witch craft.
