This canal connected the Atlantic Ocean, to the Pacific Ocean. This made travel to the other coast of the US much easier. But, It cost some native people their lands. This was a positive addition of the United States assets. This is a very sound and good idea for faster transportation. The Philippine native peoples were trying to unestablish the Catholic Church. Around 200,000 Philippino people died in the war. America ended up ruling over them and their lands. The war in the Philippines had a negative effect on the native people. And American soldiers were taken away from their families for a long time. France and Britain wanted to greatly punish Germany for loss of men, and damages to their lands. America wanted to start the league of nations. They believed that even though Germany lost the war, They still deserve peace. This had a positive impact on America. Both armies built trenches to be away from enemy fire. German trenches were well built and took a medium amount of effort to build. They had running water and electricity.  American Trenches were temporary. They had water and mud on the floors of it, and disease ridden rooms and areas. It was very unclean. This had a negative impact on the Americans. The trenches gave soldiers what is called "trench foot'. That is when your feet skin is too pruned from being in cold, unclean water for too long. As a result, you loose feeling in the specific foot you contracted it in, and may lead to amputation. Because at first, The United States didn't want to join the War. It was until Germany tried to bribe Mexico into being on their side. The condition was: "To be on our side means that you get your stolen land back from America". Once The United States heard about that , They entered the war and fought Germany.
