As the book"What's That Sound?" by John Covach said, Beatlemania described "the tremendous amount of excitement among fans at the band's live performances." So many people, mainly girls, fell in literal love with The Beatles, making them try anything to see the boys and talk to them. The airport the Beatles arrived at was in a frenzy, people were fainting or got injured, and the Beatles could barely make it out of their alive. I am sure in the beginning, because they were just a small band who played in small clubs in Europe, they felt glad to have generated a big fan base and have become a successful music group. Thanks to their fan base they have been able to make a career out of music and have been able to journey all over the world, so they should and most likely were extremely grateful. They had banners that said things like "I love you George" or "I will love the Beatles forever" and Beatles merch like hair wigs of the mop heads, pins, posters and more. These fans made the Beatles, boys who they only listened to but never officially met, the center of their entire lives. At concerts, there were so many people inside the concert and outside that the security and safety became a huge concern. There were so many fans in the small area which led to many injuries and many people passing out and needing to head to the hospital. Also, with so many people at each concert with little equipment to compensate for it, the Beatles could not hear themselves AT ALL over all the screaming and crying of the audience. As Paul McCartney said,  "We couldn’t hear ourselves when we were live, as there was so much screaming going on."  Below is the Beatles performing at Shea Stadium. Although it was nice to know that the audience like them performing and that the audience knew their songs, the Beatles become a little hurt. This is because it was seen by them that the audience didn't care what they did on stage because they just cared about seeing the boys themselves, plus they couldn't hear anything. Many times, John Lennon sang the wrong lyrics to their songs and no one noticed. The Beatles were full on musicians; meaning they loved writing and playing and the overall musicianship of it all. They did not go into the music industry to be looked at like an exhibit at the zoo, they wanted people to listen to the music they put out to them and to enjoy it. It made performing for them unenjoyable. The main reason they stopped playing live was because no one was listening to their music anymore and the boys weren't improving musically themselves, so after their last concert they went to the studio for excessive hours and got the peace and quiet they needed. They were able to grow up more musically and develop different sounds and lyrics that was helped them prosper even more than before. They released about 6 albums after their last performance at Candlestick Park (1966), starting with Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart's Club Band in 1967. Even though the band's sound was changing and they weren't performing live, they still were just as successful because they already had a foundation of fans. It was excitingly scary and showed just how popular this 4 boy band from Europe was and how influential their music was. These fans put the Beatles in the center of their lives and loved them with all their heart, which may have hurt them in the end. Because of too many people at concerts, bad security, no safety, and the Beatles being looked at like zoo animals in an exhibit, the Beatles performed their last live concert at Candlestick Park in 1966. This was not the end of the Beatles though, they released 6 albums in the following years and were just as successful as they were before thanks to their stable fan base. Although we missed seeing their beautiful faces and their voices live, because of their leave from live performing the boys were able to develop musically and got the peace and quiet they deserved.
