The first place we planned to film was at Southbank. The journey there-even though wasn't planned-was very quick and easy. We decided to take the Northern line towards Waterloo. We then walked from the station to southbank. Waterloo bridge was just a five minuet walk away.

Upon arrival to southbank, we took advantage of as much daylight possible even though we would try to capture the golden hours of daylight later on. We filmed a the very first establishing shot of Waterloo bridge down by the thames coast. The tide hadn't come in so it was safe for us to do so. We captured a nice cinematic and panoramic view of the quite waters and also managed to capture a few seagulls taking off on flight. This all will add the the cinematic and celestial feel we want from our video. However the light was a bit over exposed so we might go back and film it again or we could just use after effects to change the levels on the footage.

Lighting

Previous to us arriving at southbank, we didn't take to option of extra lighting equipment. Shortly during filming the footage at the golden hours (sunset) we realised that the lighting wasn't too good. The sky would appear very warm and colourful whilst the artist will be under exposed. This is because the camera was set on automatic and could only focus the sensitivity of light coming in the background. We reset the camera to manual, and had to set the ISO to around 13000. This decreased the quality of footage hugely because often when the ISO is that high it becomes too sensitive to light and the image looks very grainy. In a way this journey has been an location scouting day, to test the natural lighting and see where we are able to film. This wa my fault and i have learnt that next time i will definitely be requesting extra lighting equipment.

Scouting the location has even greater improved the quality and feel of our music video we want to get across to our audience. We spotted a carousel ride next to the london eye that could greatly benefit our music video if we shoot one of our base tracks on it. There are loads of artificial lighting on the ride so there is no need for extra equipment on board and the colours look very vintage and warm. I can vision close ups and mid close ups of the artist singing to the camera.
I believe we will have 3 base tracks from this setting. The only slight problem is that we will have to pay for these rides and i will have to do some research before hand on how much it is and of we can take a camera on board
