It all starts with the first generation passing down its traditions. These are the gender roles we are born into and learn to pass down to future generations. Our social construct of gender is strong in telling us what to do. Culturally, this is how we are raised too.

The future generations will have their choice regardless of gender or culture. Through a male and female relationship with both parties doing no gender assigned roles, future generations will then lead theirs into more options.

Learning

Not only have these gender norms affected us women, but they have raised men to not know how to fend for themselves without the reliance of a woman. Giving my partner the tools and knowledge to break traditions as individuals and partnerships is a step in the right direction, breaking societal norms. The apron can pass onward.

Making a Change

Something deeply embedded in our culture and gender norms can be changed. We as individuals can call out these behaviors and choose what we want to continue or disregard. It matters that we have a choice to do so. (Loberr)

Carrying on Traditions

"We accept, learn to identify with, and participate in it as 'normal'" says Allan Johnson. Especially in Hispanic households, we as women are taught to take care of our husbands and kids, often taking on way more than we can manage.
