Forming a relationship

Within this service, the mentor and mentee are matched on a personal level that sits comfortably with both individuals involved, such as age, gender, interests etc. This is the basis for developing a positive trusting relationship with one another, which continues to flourish as time goes on. Luo and Stoeger (2023) state being present for the mentee, showing understanding and acceptance as well as expressing social assistance will provide growth for a positive relationship, thus enabling the mentor to support the young person with their individual needs.
