I learned that the children who experience food insecurity have a greater chance of having behavioral issue. Also, single moms have 3x more chance of their children having food insecurities rather than a married couple. Donating to our school’s food drive can be a huge asset to children who food insecurities.

Something that I learned while watching this video is that 1/6 kids have food insecurity. I also learned that single mothers have a higher chance of their children to have food insecurity than a married couple. This makes me feel that I should not waste food and if I don’t like the food that I got or that I have. Instead go to a local food drive and help other children in need. For example, my family and I go to Windward Mall every Christmas to give toys to other kids and families who are poor and cannot afford presents. We pick a name tag of off the trees around the desk where you sign in and its tells you the child’s name, age, gender, and what they want for Christmas that they don’t have. Then, we go shopping for those things and bring it back just in time for the trucks to deliver the presents to the families. Because of this this makes me happy when I think about a kid waking up on Christmas and seeing a present(s).

I learned that many children in the world have food insecurity and don’t have access to a sustainable food source most of the time. I also learned that places with higher unemployment and poverty rates have more children with food insecurity. Child food insecurity and malnutrition can lead to health problems. For example, children that have food insecurity are more aggressive. Food insecurity can also lead to anxiety which is very bad because children shouldn’t have to be anxious about where their next meal is coming from. In the future, I will try to donate food and money to organizations that help to solve child food insecurity (CFI) so that more children in the world will be able to eat well.

In addition the have a higher risk of getting sick. For example asthma. But the even worse thing is that people when children have food insecurity their mostly in poverty and if they become sick it is hard for the parents to buy medicine and help the children get better. That CFI is a bad social problem. Kids, adults, mothers, and families who are struggling with food insecurities, can be tough for them, especially when it comes to a mother. We can help people that suffer with food insecurities by donating canned foods, veggies, and other items. I think that we can provide lots for people suffering from food insecurities. :)

I learned that after Covid-19 65% more households experienced Child Food Insecurity. I also learned that 1 in 6 households also experienced Child Food Insecurity and CFI is more likely to happen to single mothers rather then a family with a mom, a dad, and kids.
